Nitrous and the Track
Nitrous and the Track
Just really looking for some tips here...
How are you guys running nitrous getting out of the hole at the track? I had an absolutely terrible time getting out of the hole and locking in that 1-2 shift. I was hitting consistent 2.5 60's because once my nitrous came on all hell broke loose.
Any tips?

I'm looking to spray soon too. maybe a 50-shot. why are you spraying off the line?

www.myspace.com/korax123 (i think)
I don't go on it very often maybe check it once or twice a month. or go on to listen to some music but thats about it.
spraying in 1st?!?
yikes. do you want to have a nice big explosion under your hood?
first and sometimes second, are far to unpredictable due to traction to spray nitrous.
your askin for trouble.
if your getting good enough traction, spray second.
but basically 3rd is where your nitrous will do the work.

I was having terrible traction issues though...i was hitting 2.4-2.5 60 foots all night
Im starting to think that I'm not gonna spray in 1st and I'll spray in 2nd...spraying in 1st is pointless no matter the RPM...as soon as it engages it roasts the tires.
3rd is too far to wait...I have a 2.2 remember, lol
i was struggling big time on my 1-2 shift though
also why would I be worried about spraying in first other than for traction issues.

I dont spray til second gear at 3500Rpm. With my stock 15" wheels on the front, I launch from 2000rpm. Slip the clutch on the way out, dont just pop it. You'll slip the clutch for about 800 to a 1000 rpm until the cars really moving outa the hole. Then its all the way off the clutch, power shift second, and 3rd and run a 15.2 completely stock.
This weekend (the 1st) is opening day of Byron and Im going to take the coby back and try to hit a 14.5 on a 50 shot.

is it worth it? is that a serious question? lol I've got a car now capable of trapping 96mph in the 1/4...
its like I traded in my car for something else...night and day.
yeah I think this car is capable of mid 14's...which I'm fine with until I can have some headwork done and a tune.
slowion2 on here suggested launching at like 3600 and slipping the clutch out...
I tried launch at 2000 rpm and I seemed to bog down big time...maybe I wasn't slipping it enough?

yeah...generally what will happen is it will roast all of 1st gear and then 1/4 of second and then I'll hook up.
I've got some new stuff to try now I just gotta find a time to get back out there.

Hey Cam you gonna post some of the vids at the track or just wait for the movie?
You should go the next time me and bluebat(from redlineforums) go to the track. Were going to try for first or second Fri in April I think.
