:No Flaming Allowed: Drag racing season

Alright guys, well it's close if not already season for drag racing. And I'm itching to get to my local strip. BUT, if the driver mod 2.0 is the best version, consider me a 1.4 at the strip. My last visit to Memphis Motorsports ended in a best E.T of 14.32 @ 103 with a 2.4 60'....but that was on bald pirelli's and no supporting cooling mods.

Now, I have some new Khumo Ecsta's and a reservoir swap to help rid of heatsoak , so tell me if any of you drag with your 'balts hit me up with a video, a testimony, or even just some hints as to launch this wheel hopper nicely without snappin' the stock axles to death.

Please dude, of all people I don't want in this thread...if you could just stay out of this one brother. And driver mod is a fancy way of saying that I am not the best driver.

I know right?! But you know sometimes I think it's worth it....really, only few of the mods here actually do there job, and that's not just my opinion either.

Here's a video of me from last summer. Get your launchs down to where your 60' is around 2.1-2.3 or better and you'll be doing just fine. This run is the time in my sig...

Very nice run, I hope I can pull that time as well. I have 1rst gear boost reduction rate at 50% as well so maybe that can help. But very nice run nonetheless, and thanks for staying on topic!

Thanks!

I tried first gear reduction down around 60 percent originally but found it really wasnt working for me. I ended up putting it to about 90% (10% reduction), just enough to take the edge off. And make sure you're not spining the tires at all. Even the slightest bit of spin kills your 60'. Its tough to find that line between accelerating hard and not spinning and accelerating hard and burning them up. Takes practice. I have over a hundred passes at the track with my car and it wasnt until around passes 75+ that I finally got to the point where I know my car perfectly.

60ft is the most important part of a quarter mile race, .1 tenths of a second in the 60ft equals .2 tenths of a second in the quarter mile. You get your 2.4 down to a 2.0 you will be nearly a second faster.

You're right but I was too lazy to change it. I posted the same thing on another forum (but keep in mind, this particular site isn't so quick to flame....if they flame at all) So I just left as is, I knew that I'd catch flack from a lot, but I knew that some people that actually ahve a brain and some morals would eventually post something up (In which a couple have so far) But smart ass comments no longer bother me.

Yes that is true...but I'm just seeing if I can get some input from some guys, instead of getting out there and snap two sets of axles before learning anything that other people already know...

please stop saying the word driver mod

anyways its going to take alot more than extra coolant to stop the heatsoak, invest in any and all cooling mods that exist

back when i had 2.8, 60's tune, ONLY. nothing else.

and i'm now pulling 2.1 60' times on stock clutch, mounts, axles, street tires

waiting to get a decent run at the track. should go 13.60s easily with the new exhaust, h/e, and intake

You need to slip the clutch off the line. Don't just dump it...

I too had bald pirellis (with 35psi in them, faulty tire pressure gauges FTL), and cut a 2.209 60' and ran a 14.2@100mph bone stock. I wrote a huge how to on how to drive these cars, search for it.
