Srt-10

I was coming home yesterday and had to stop at a light, I happened to notice a black dodge truck going threw the intersection. It had a body kit and a wing which I thought was odd, then i noticed the SRT-10 badge and quickly turned right and followed him for a lil bit. he finally noticed me when I revved up at him. He then decided to go out of town so I naturally followed. I pulled up beside him when it went to two lane, he looked down at me and i pointed forward like i wanted to race, he chuckled and nodded so i dropped into 3rd about 65ish and waited a second...He drops gears and nails it, I do the same. Threw 3rd i pull bout 1/4 of a car on him, I shift and he pulls back on me and puts us dead even. He shifts and I pull out on him and just keep inching away to about 125ish. all and all a good close race

What are your mods, do you have any? The Dodge Ram SRT-10 Trucks are fast, I believe I read somewhere about 5 secs 0-60, high 13's 1/4 mile. If you just have a stock SS/SC then no way you kept up.

0-60 in 5.2 sec runs a 1/4 mile in 13.8 IDK all depends on what mods you have and its possible.

Heres a link to the SRT10 Ram. http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/ram-srt-10.html

Thanks Jackalope, I knew I read it somewhere, That's also why I asked about his mods.

Welcome. And yeah its not impossible but its a tall ored to fill thats for sure!

BTW the engine in the RAM is NOT the same as the Viper's engine. The RAM uses a cast iron block and the Viper uses an aluminum one. At least I think Its been a while since I cared enough to check.

They are the same engine, 500 HP 500 Ft. lbs. 505 CI

with slobalts mods the guy was:

A. Messing around
B. Could not drive

Or it is B.S.

My friend has one of these and a quad cab hemi and I have been burnt many times by it.

hmmmmm.... I don't know Dead even and with only an air box mod, and muffler?

"Flowmaster 40 series is a muffler, mostly used for v8s IMO it would really bad on a 4cyl"

40 series link:http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/flomstr1.htm

I don't see where this is so impossible to believe. I can believe it I mean they were sawing back and forth while shifting. Rememebr they may have 500 HP but they weigh what 6000 pounds?

I think its possible that is a heavy truck...viper engine or not. We're not talking about running the weight of a Viper its a truck. Depends on on the drivers IMO

I would whoop any car or truck only running 13.8 in the 1.4th lol. Plenty of balts are much quicker than that. Come on, no one should call BS on this. I know personally because with intake, exhaust I kept up with one. Stage II I beat him.

It's very possible. I just raced one at the track last friday. Whooped him by a full second.
His mph was not crazy either, so it wouldn't be that good from a roll.
We are at 3415ft elevation here, best a stock ss/sc has done is 14.9.
Here is the slip from the truck and I:

Doesn't seem impossible to me. He said it was a 60-65ish roll. Not like it was a dig or anything. Give the guy some credit. I would have thought the SRT-10s were faster than 13.8, but if that's true, I don't see any reason a stock SS/SC couldn't hang w/ an SRT-10 Ram at that speed.

Congrats man..I raced one awhile back, the full size SRT truck. This dude came FLYIN up behind me. From a dead stop, once I hooked up I just kept pulling on him. They are quick, but not the fastest things on the road. 13.8 is what ya'll are sayin, and stock our Cobeys are puttin down as low as 14.1. With a muffler an airbox mod I'm sure it would be a close race, which is what he said it was.

Yeah if he was stock and they run 13.8 this is not really that hard to believe guys... We have had a stock balt hit 14.1 and several others at 14.2 and 14.3 - with sucky traction (obviously)

This is a roll race, how is this hard to believe? He didn't say he raped him, just hung with him.

I don't see what its that hard to believe. first off vipers aren't that fast. I've never seen one break out of the 13's (at bandimere, 5,800'.) yeah they have some mean top end, but down low they aren't that fast. take their engine (i think its the same, even if its an iron block its close enough) out of a 3,000 pound car and put it in a 5,500 pound truck and it just got even less impressive.

I'm sure the top end is still very strong, vipers at the track never really seemed to come alive til about 3/4 track, I would figure 100mph or so.

you said it was a close race, thats what i would expect.
