Thumbs up track last night - 13.5 @ 103

well, got kinda gypped last night, only had 3 runs.
couldn't get off work early, bumper-bumper traffic all the way there, got to the track quite late, very busy night, endless spills and breakdowns...ugh...

my 3 runs were consistent
13.5, 13.5, 13.6
all at 103

was having a heck of a time launching though, kept bogging off the line,
my 60's went 2.1, 2.0, 1.9

usually I average 1.9's without much effort, and get an occasional 1.8

last nights 1.9 was a brutal clutch burner.....

oh well, it was an incremental improvement in time and speed, my new p.b.

sidebar: my goal for this season was to reach 13.5 - so YAY for me!!!
I met my goal early, there are still 7 more street legal nights remaining this season, so there's still a good chance that I may beat my goal for this season.....
for comparison, my best e.t. end of last season was 14.6

04 RL 4449 vs 06 Cobalt SS/SC 5572

Look at the left lane. It says Cobalt. I wondered if it was a stock or modified one.

I was using my Hoosier Quicktime Pro DOT slicks.

the Cobalt was an SS/SC
it was only his 2nd time to the track, and he just got stage 2, cai, and a torque dampener. He has to relearn his car now, couldn't hook up the tires at launch, etc... we've all been there, but you could see the frustration,
seat time, seat time, seat time!

You are absolutely right. I ran at the track about 5 time before I bought DRs. I couldn't deal with the wheelhop and the trap of a mid 13 car while running 14s.

yep - I race srt4's every so often, same thing, the one's with a driver that has put in his dues and knows his car is doing 12.8's, while the new drivers are doing high 14's and even 15's

but it's still weird to see a car in your sideview mirror, way back there, that you know darn well is just as capable as your own car, if not better....

I think these cars, RL's, Cobalts, SRT4's, etc, are kinda like taming a wild stallion

Great Job Wilson.

Assuming that you are running stock axles. I would have to guess that you arent dumping your clutch on your launches and your just slipping it nicely. I am guessing that becuase I havent seen you post that you broke an axle yet lol.

Are you still running a stock clutch?

I am hoping to make it down to mission for sept 1st with Mike (Avro206). I am trapping 104.6 mph @ +4000 DA. So I think I am good for about the same times you are running down there. I expect to see you there!!! It would be good to meet ya.

yep - stock clutch and stock axles.
latest rumour has it that the 04 RL has beefier stock axles too....
haven't been able to confirm it though.

so I'm just doing fairly light street-style launches, slipping in the power smoothly - cuz the stock clutch hates those Hoosiers!

the launches must be incredible with a decent clutch if I can do 1.8's with this setup!

you're gonna love the Mission track and the sea level air pressures!

Its the Hoosiers, they are such a tall tire they kill trap speed. Make for a great launch but not so great trap. I have a similar thing with my M&H tires.

Ingalls tourque brace would be a must if you want a descent launch, intake, pulley, exhaust, stage kit.

ingalls is probably the only thing, he doesnt need more power for his first time to the track
