track vid clips (Redline)

had a very disappointing night at the track
only got 4 runs in due to endless track spills, breakdowns, and a crash.

my car sure wasn't performing very well last night either, not a single run of mine broke into the 13's, sheesh! it's been a long time since I've had only 14's! it was humbling and embarrassing, felt like I was going backwards progress-wise.
don't know what is going on with my car right now, it just didn't seem to have any oomph last night, wasn't pulling strong, doesn't make sense, it wasn't very hot or humid, entire cooling system was very cool between runs (I run my pump and fans between runs with the engine off, and ice the blower)

my first 2 runs were on 94 octane, the last 2 runs are on 103 octane, made no difference.

first run demonstrates a nasty clutch slip between the 1-2 shift, and the last 3 runs demonstrate a recent significant bogging problem that has developed for me at the track while launching, it has completely killed my 60's now, only getting 2.1's now (on slicks), up from 1.8's and 1.9's average in the past. Sure wish I knew what was going on with this car. SIGH....

cripes, even the burnouts were meager, didn't seem to be much water down, car just dragged itself forward.

enjoy - for what it's worth.....
I was really hoping to capture a few of my faster runs for you guys (13.5's)...

run 1 - slipping clutch http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...75592&hl=en-CA

(Note: that is Fingersmoran in the left lane with his SS/SC doing his very first 14.3 run - he was a happy guy that night!!)

run 2 - bog on launch http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...93811795167761

run 3 - bogged again http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...22019703575070

run 4 - and again, at night...bleh..... http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...81359803448006

are you able to launch any higher than 3000rpms with those slicks? if so that would make those runs better.

Great vids!!! Stop hitting the rev limiter and you'll gain a tenth or more right thier. Also, higher octain is not going to give you more whp with out advanceing you spark or throughing more boost at it. Oct is fuels rating on how easy it is to combust. High octain is harder to ignigte by heat alone, plus helps to keep you cambers a bit cooler = more timing, more boost, more whp, less chance of detonation, or pre-igntion. But if you just through in race fuel, all your going to do is foul out you 02s, cat, and run slower. If your tune is for 91, or 93 oct, stick to that unless you deto on a hot and humid day, then mix in a gallon and see if that helps. Others wise, it's only hurting your performance.

i believe i hear you powershifting and not hitting the limiter... am i right? also what kind, size, and how much where the rims you have the slick on. The rl is the same 5x110 bolt pattern right?

If your still on the stock clutch buy a better one I bet you would see 13's again.

It's problably bogging cause the clutch isn't catching when your launching.

That's what I was thinking, you might gain a little time by shifting a little earlier. Other than that, I thought they were decent runs!

He may have been powershifting, but that's the rev limiter. I raced my budies at the track and hit it ONCE! It is a no **** 6500rpms! You can powershift with out hitting the limiter, if you do hit it, it defeats the porpus of the powershift. Besides, you can see the light come on. A proper powershift, you will barly tell have the rpms raise befor the clutch is reengaged. My rpms raise only 20rpms on avg during a powershift according to datalogging.

no, I don't powershift, and I don't hit the rev limiter either, my raptor goes off 300rpm below redline....the tach is useless in 1st gear and still slow in 2nd gear.

and besides, it's easy to tell when the rev limiter is hit, the car lurches very noticeably! at least mine does!

I agree the stock clutch is very questionable now, especially with the slicks, but I think the bogging is more due to severe traction combined with the clutch grabbing.

my wheels are 16" Saab steelies with the 5x110 bolt pattern.

Judging from the sound of the engine, she's slippin' pretty good. Especially clip #1.
Did you notice a drop in boost?

yeah, it doesn't slip too often, only when I use the slicks and hit it a bit too hard on launch.
Seems to recover quickly though, at least so far this season.

boost is fine, still hits 18psi no problem
