What do you guys think a stock 06 S/C SS can run-if it's getting the power down?
What do you guys think a stock 06 S/C SS can run-if it's getting the power down?
Hey guys. I'm going to IDDVII, and I'm taking my stock 2006 S/C SS. It will have HOWEVER, DR's, mounts(tranny), and JBP bushings. Ever since this car has come out, I've always wanted to see somebody run a high 13 stock with one. These cars have the power and the mph to do it. Even with DR's, mounts, and bushings, I still consider the car stock for the most part. But before I start with the better mods and start adding power, I'm curious to see if I can get a 13.9 just by getting the stock power to the ground efficiently. I'd like your guys's thoughts, opinions and guesses as to if it can be done, or if you don't think so, then what you think I will run.
ive been telling people that adequate traction and a good driver will get 13's in these cars
im running approximately 14.2's with only a muffler (that is most likely giving no power benefits)

I'll be getting dyno'd in 2 weeks. I will definetely post my numbers and dyno sheets. I should have plenty of practice time that day, plus, the track will be fully prepped, and sprayed for the first 660 feet. From what I'm hearing, this is the track to do it at. I'm going to drive the best I can, and shift as fast as possible. Thanks for the replies so far guys.
I got a 14.4099 bone stock in my redline...on slicks you could easily get a 13. I have a 2.20 60 time that run. If you got a 1.800 there'd be those .4 seconds and it would actually be more up top.
I cut several 1.9 60's on 225 BFG drag radials back when my car was stock. So I know it's doable. I think with a 1.9 13.9 or even 13.8 would be possible w/ no power mods. The question will be how well is your track prepped?
Also, just because they're drag radials doesn't mean you can launch like they're slicks. They'll still spin drastically if you give it too much gas.
If you really wanted to launch it hard 26x6" slicks would probably be about perfect... if you could find some for a 16" wheel, or find a 15" wheel that would fit...

They are Hoosier Quick Time Pro's, size 26x9.5x16. They're the same ones that Fast06SS uses, same rims too. The track is Norwalk raceway, and from what I here, it's going to be prepped very well. As I mentioned earlier, the first 660 feet will be sprayed! All of the 2006's that I've seen have put better than 215whp down, in fact most seem closer to 230whp, but we'll see. I'm going to be doing some nice, long burnouts, and really heat those QTP's up.

It is alot of "meat", but Rob's had no issues with them. As for the wheels, just go to www.tirerack.com and do a search for wheels for a 2005 malibu. They have the same 5x110 bolt pattern we do. Then click the right arrow button untill you're at the end. They're called "Sport Edition F6", and they're only $87.00 each. They're a 16x7 size rim, lighter than stock.

You'd probably actually get better times with Hoosier's P225/50R16 Drag Radials.

A 6" wide slick that tall would be on the verge of being too much for stock performance levels.

I see. They didn't seem to effect Rob's times? He ran 13.5@104.8 with the INTENSE stage 3kit +corsa. His trap speed seems right? Unless you feel his trap should've been higher?

I personally have never seen a 2005 dyno 230whp, however I've seen several 2006's dyno that. Maybe I've just missed alot of 2005 dyno sheets? I am just going by what I've seen.

If the track is preped perfectly, and you drive the **** out of it, 14.05-14.2. Sorry guys, if a stock Cobalt was going to run 13s, it would have happened by now.
Look on the bright side, if you're really into 1/4 times, then you didnt buy your car to keep it stock, so why worry so much about stock times?
Nevermind, I just read that you're going to run DR's and some other mods. You better pull some high 13's with those mods, and if you do I'll be happy for you. But if you do, dont come back with stories of a stock Cobalt running 13's. Sorry, thats not stock. If you want to legitimately say a STOCK cobalt SS can run 13's, you need to do it the way it rolled off the ***embly line, right down to the rubber.
WTF? you cant say *** anymore, even if its a part of another word? ***embly Line. hmmm....
anyway, good luck man, hope you get the times you're hoping for. Drive it like you stole it

I have an 06, and it dynoed at 200 whp and 177 ft.lbs. with the Injen Intake and a 10:1 A/F ratio!
On a Mustang Dyno though! (<<<<<Heartbreaker?) P.S. I can keep up with stock SRT-4's easily though.
I think with a damn good driver like Tofu, some drag slicks/radials, and wheel-hop prevention devices a high 13 would be possible! I do however think the clutch wouldn't last that long though.

i gotta agree with 2k5ss/sc if your boy tofu was drivin it with those couple of mods i think he could hit that no prob but thats only wit his freak SSSC but who knows like helty said just drive the thing like you stole it seriously and just see what happens. good luck man i wanna read bout these stories afterwards
