Exclamation WOOT first time at the track!!!

Well tonight was the first night at a real 1/4mi track with my CSRT4. I managed to pull off a 13.9 @106.6 on my last run. I ran a consistant low 14's, and the trap was typically 105+.

The thing that pissed me off most was the fact that most the V8's I raced got a better 1/4mi time, but I trapped higher than them! LOLZ. I was trapping what low 13 sec cars were.... Stupid PCM and never turn off ESP.....

O well. I know low 13's are possible. I will have to shoot for them next year. Either way, I didnt do too bad for the first time at the track. Heres all the info from my slip:

R/T ... 1.149 ( oops )
60' ... 2.3
1/8 ... 9.2
MPH ... 82.3
1000 ... 11.7
1/4 ... 13.9
MPH ... 106.6

v8 rear wheel drive cars have traction and alot of bottom end torque. they rip out of the gate, but not much on hte top end.

still, good traps.

I would agree on everything said, except the top end part. V8s do have top end man. Like you said they get traction so they cover more ground in less time with less speed.

Just think, with a better 60"....2.1-2.2 or so would or should yield a 13.7 @ 104-105

general rule of thumb I've found is, for every .1 you knock off your 60' usually nets you about .2 off your 1/4. That is if you don't screw up after the 60'

Thanks guys

I like that rule. A vendor is working on a stage box for the CSRT4. In the NSRT4, it gives them a 1.8-2.0 60' average.

As for mods, all I have is a DP, and a drop in filter. Based on what it normally runs stock, that added about 3.6 mph to the trap. Not too shabby for some cheap mods.

Keep in mind with a better 60' your trap speeds will drop some too.

hehe. Well, by the time I get to the track again next year, I should be running the mopar stage 1 PCM. That will net me some nice HP/TQ gains, and Im hoping my trap goes up substantially. Maybe 115 mphish range Im thinking.

*hoping*, not necessarily counting on it.

yea, I trap 104 on huge mickey thompson slicks. You can bet your ass I trap much high on street tires. Good job though, for your first time in that car, at least you got 13's.

Sorry, a little off topic, but hows the torque steer in the csrt4s? In the market for a new car spring 2009 and wanted to ask someone who actually drives it then reading a magazine. Thanks

Any FWD car has t-steer. Its not bad at all. On the track it doesnt do it at all and it sticks pretty well in the sraightline.

If u want all year drivability, unmatched versatility, and a roll/drag monster its well worth it
