***Any thoughts??? 56k=beware

So I noticed my car made a slight sound when decelerating and in gear. Kind of like something rubbing or brushing up against something else. Not really a grind, but still something that sounded unhealthy. After I realized I didn't have the tools to check my fluid level I decided to take a peak under the car and I noticed this.

I apologize for the blurryness, but I coudn't quite get it to focus right as I had the car on jack stands and didn't have enough room. Anyhow you can see a bead of fluid formed on the diff housing. It's not dripping and there isn't a spot on my drive way but I can't help but thinking this isn't good. I also took some vid and recorded the infamous clicking sound that these transmission like to make right before they pull a France and give up. Anyone have any clue what to do or if I'm just dumb and paranoid? I'm taking it to my Mechanic and having them check to the fluid levels tomorrow, but in the mean time does anyone have any ideas on how serious this is?

Can you post a link to the infamous clicking noise. That would be cool. Do you wheel hop your car alot? If you do it might crack you tranny housing

The video is quite terrible, and my retarded voice is in it so I was trying to spare myself the embarrasment but I could post it up if neccessary. I don't get any wheel hop really. The stiffy pretty much took care of that. I looked over the rest of it and the only place I saw any fluid was the diff housing. Maybe the mech didn't tighten the bolts down enouph?

There are just too many wierd noises that I'm being told to write off as normal with this car.(not by you, just in general) This car racks my nerves worse than a girlfriend that misses a period.

I'll post it up in a sec, be warned, I sound really really dumb. Then again, it may not be an inaccurate assesment of my mental abilities.

I think it's in there a grand total of 3 times, it sounds like a faint popping. I attribute that to my 2 year old digital camera.

Not gonna happen. They already told me an aftermarket clutch voids the rest of my transmission warranty. So I'll do it without them. I'll get my local mech to check it over see if he can stop the leak, and just drive it till it blows.

I'm not terribly worried as there isn't a puddle in my drive way, but I'm not going to let it go to the wayside either. I view this just like any other natural disaster. There's nothing I can but brace myself and hope for the best.

Okay, I took it to my mechanic and he thought it may be something from the clutch install. So he cleaned it up and told me to watch for the fluid to form again. Well, it formed again. I've peaked at it before when we had it on the lift I didn't see any cracks in my tranny. I'm thinking axles seals, or as suggested cracked tranny. Perhpas in a spot I can't see, maybe in the bell housing. The thing is there is still no indication of this stuff forming a puddle or drip, it just kinda beads and stays there. When we checked my fluid it was full. How hard is it to replace seals? Could I attempt this myself over a week end?

That would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking this a job for Jeffaroo. Can they check the diff without dropping the tranny? If so I'll have them check that. As it stands we are going to replace the seals. This is really incovenient. Oh well, pay to play. Worst case scenario, I get a brand new G85 transmission, best case new seals go in. How much do you guys think seals will cost?

Here's a thought, how about the manual tranny in the 2.4ss and the 2.2? We share the same block right? What's to stop me from bolting that one up?

Anyone have any thoughts on the F23 tranny? Since they're switching to it anyways why not be an early adaptor?
