Hi Everybody,
I am the proud Ohio owner of an '07 laser blue Cobalt SS with 139,000 miles. Just purchased 10/22. Excited to find such a fun car at a decent price and very happy to have found the SS community of enthusiasts!

However, I think I need to just junk the transmission: Grinding when shifting into 3rd and 4th, and 5th gear doesn't engage at all. Its a non-limited slip diff.

I've been looking at transmissions on eBay. Lot of high mileage ones for sale. Found one with 108,000 miles on it for $965, and it has the G85 Limited Slip differential. Should I settle for this one or are there way better deals elsewhere?

 

First thing I would do is check the alignment on the shifter cables.

Second thing I would is check the roll pins in the shifter arms on the transmission.

Third thing I would do is drain and replace the fluid. MT-90 has been good to me when it comes to grinding.
