4T45E/4T40E Trans Info from GM

I have posted up the info that I have been promising about the 4T45E and 4T40E automatic transmission in the following posts.

The following information applies to both transmissions. See my post (post #10) to see why.

I hope many of you find this useful!

Feel free to post now!

That data is actually for the 4T40. Do you have the 45? They are different.

This is for the 4T45E. It is found in the Cobalt section in GM's service information.

I know some of it says 4T40, but I am very sure that is is also applicable to the 45 or they would not put it in there and keep it there after almost 3 years.

I will double check when I get to work tomorrow, though.

EDIT: You are right. I don't know how that slipped by me but I am gonna have to really dig to find out why the hell they all say 4T40 and are in the Cobalt section!

the 4T40 and 4T45 should have minimal differences other than their torque handling capabilites

Also, by the looks of it, If I could lower the amperage on the Pressure Control, it would essentially beef up the line pressure, I wonder what voltage it runs at

Talked to some people at work and they and I agree that the specifications of the 4T45E and the 4T40E are the same (except for maximum torque they are able to handle).

The people who wrote the service information were just too lazy to put both 4T45E and 4T40E information in so they just kinda mixed the two.

So, the information you see applies to BOTH the 4T45E and 4T40E.

So a few years back I had to get a new transmission put in a couple years ago and noticed it never felt quite as good as the old. I noticed on the transmission it had said R14. Well I bought a parts car the other day and it says R15. What's the difference if any?
