can't get linkage off shifter bracket

I'm trying to install my ZZP shifter bracket and the linkage won't come off the old one..... I have the clamp pulled back and am trying to get it to pop up. but nothing, any thoughts or tips with these?

Never mind, had to hit it just right. Plus it was slightly rusted on.
