Cavalier short shifter.

Anyone have the cavalier short shifter in their ls? It's not a major "problem" as of yet, but the new shifter ball doesn't have holes where the "u" pin goes into it, and when I go to put it in first, the while ball moves up a tad bit before the linkage even moves. It's kind of a nuisance and don't want it to develop into anything worse. How can I fix it without drilling the shifter ball?

Yeah, I've got that in my car. Dropped in just like the stock one and I dont have any issues with it. When you say "the white ball", which part are you talking about?

The pivot ball. I'll get a video up later on when I can rip my interior apart again.

Lol my bad. I'm in the middle of working. Not sure why I said white, but the new one is solid polished aluminum. But it doesn't have the notches in the back like the stock one.

Took my boot off and investigated a little. Without completely tearing mine apart, the only thing I can think of is maybe that grey plastic sleeve/bushing/whatever it is may be worn. Maybe pop that out and have a look at it

all those holes are for is if your are having the car towed, you push the U clip into them to keep the car in neutral

my stock Cavalier shifter did the same thing, I think you're missing an o ring or something between the top of the pivot ball and the retainer ring

Can you post a picture for me? It came with some o-rings I didn't use. Don't know where they go. Lol.
