Just got this car 2 weeks ago been through 2 cv axles already was lowered I raised it up a little bit to take some tension off the axles has coilovers. Just got a new cv axles put in my car 20 mins ago got home 5 miles down the road from my shop and the axle wasn't in all the way pushed it in until it locked in and this is what the boot looks like is this bad I'm just worried its gonna burn through another CV axle I a week I've also included my old axle to show you guys what is happening to them
Car has k sport coilovers and cold air intake and that's it besides new rims and tires been going through orielys getting the precision cv shaft that the code matches to my transmission. Had a friend tell me to buy the ac delco xv shaft for 250 that is the same length but has an extra rib on the boot to help it stretch a little further so the joint doesn't suck out of the housing
I meant more with the suspension. Are the control arms stock (still have OE part number)? Has the ball joint been replaced (if it's riveted to the arm, no)? Is the car properly aligned?
You can go AC Delco; an OE supplier is never a bad choice. My preference is actually NAPA, as they're a little bit more robust than the OE axles - a lot of aftermarket companies will rebrand and sell the NAPA axle as a "Stage 1" upgrade.
I actually have two brand new NAPA LSJ axles in my garage and I'm not going to use them.
The a arms were changed but I got stock ones and put them back on the car everything else I'm sure is stock If you would like to get rid of them axles I could desperately use them
Have all of the ones that have "died" been from O'Reilly's? I wonder if they were made too short or something. Be nice to be able to measure them in their uninstalled form.
Yeah every single one was from them they swear they are ok I dont think so. And yeah i agree i wish there was a way other than compressed like damn but I will order one from napa and see if it can hold up
This is the first axle that went broke same spot just didnt tear the boot and this is how it sits not low or anything so I doubt it has to do with suspension
