Do you need a pilot bearing?

I have an 06' Cobalt SS, and I'm replacing the clutch. The ring gear on my flywheel broke loose and my car wont start unless its hot. (other than push starting it of course) I'm just replacing everything though,
-clutch
-flywheel
-pressure plate
-slave cyl
-throwout bearing

My question is, do I need a pilot bearing? I saw one other thread talking about this, saying that the F35 transmission doesn't use one, and i just wanted to double check and make sure if that was correct or not. And why it doesn't, if you know just out of curiosity. Thanks!

Yup, no pilot.
Just a throwout/slave cylinder.
Get the LNF throwout/slave btw.

I'm also curious what kit you're going with.

This is the link to the Exedy I'm getting,

Exedy Clutch Kit Exedy Hyper Single Cerimetalic disc

DO NOT shop at Auto parts warehouse btw, they do a very bad job at keeping you updated. I have to get my new clutch asap, because i have to go to work on monday (i'm on paid vacation) but they waited a day and a half before the told me the original ACT clutch kit i bought was on back order. ...I hate them... now I'll get the new one the day i go back to work. and i have an hour commute to work, so its not like i can just ask somebody for a ride. On top of that, my $1200 ckutch will be sitting on my front porch from the time of delivery, til somebody gets home. NEVER SHOP AT AUTO PARTS WAREHOUSE...

That's a popular one. Good luck.

More like never shop at a vendor who isn't CSS.NET supported, haha.
I bet you could've found a better deal on that kit too.
The ACT kit I got retails for just over $1k. I spent just under ~$700 for it. Good deal.

I have a squeaking in my transmission and a lot of clutch chatter when my foot is not on the clutch when im sitting still. any idea what that might be???

I personally thought that it was my pilot bearing but now finding out that i dont have one, i have no clue what it could be.

Do you have an aftermarket clutch, with a single mass flywheel, possibly lighter than stock weight? Do you have any solid motor mounts?
