Exedy Install Problems

Okay so i had to replace my stock clutch cause it was done...

So i buy the Exedy Hyper Single Stage 3 but the dealership thats installing it for me (took it there cause i tried to get them to warrenty my stock one) called me today saying that it doesn't fit... they say its only going on half way...

They told me the inside friction disc wont go in right and its causing it to go on only half way. they have the sub frame out the tranny out the axels out, everything... they say they have 3 tech who have been working on tranny's and clutches for 20 years. and they cant get it to go on

So i called Exedy and spoke to a tech and he said it sounds like install error because if it was the wrong clutch it wouldnt fit at all.... so i got the dealership to talk to the tech and then the dealership called me back and just say... yeah its not gonna fit. send it back.... but i coudlnt get hold of the tech again to verrify what they had said.

so i have no idea what to do and i have no money left...

Does this sound like install error or is the clutch been made wrong?

Thanks.

Did mine and no issues. Who did you buy it from.

Did they line up the marks on the flywheel and assembly?

It fits just fine. There isn't a lot of room, but it works. Did they align the disk and pressure plate?

Are they saying there is no room in the bellhousing for it? Did they use the alignment tool to line up the teeth. Are they rotating the axle to get it all to line up.

i think he said that. but he said the inside friction plate is not fitting in, then asked if he can grind down the teeth, im asuming its the teeth on the fly wheel unless the frictin plate has teeth?

i dont know im not good with cars, only computers lol

i dont really know what they have and havnt done to try and install it as i havnt been there.

if someone could put together a little list of things you have to do to installl it properly that would be really good

im thinking about telling them to put my old one in and ill take it to some one who has done many exedy installs... but i cant even afford to pay them there install let alone another install.

Three things in clutch lingo....flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate. I'm assuming that they are talking about the flywheel. You do have to spin the flywheel to get the flywheel bolt holes to align perfectly with the crank. It seems like they won't align but they will. I installed my hyper single in my home garage and had no problems.

Here is the link to Exedy's Tech Info http://www.exedyusa.com/race/race.asp?id=501

Exedy has some pretty particular steps that have to be taken for alignment of the pressure plate to the flywheel which are listed in the Exedy Instructions.

I just remember them saying line up the 2 marks. Other then the torque specs there really wasn't much too it.

My bad...I meant they are particular....alignment of the marks which you don't normally need to do on other clutches.

I did something really stupid once during a clutch install and I bet that's what they did too. I was bymyself in a hurry to get the car back together and I couldn't get the input shaft to slide into the clutch disc. I ended up trying too hard cause damage to the splines in the disc and slightly bending it.

Yeah really stupid I know lol But it happens

when you put the exedy on, do you take it apart or put it on together like it did out of the box?
