i honestly would reccommend having a transmission shop do that. I think you need specific tools for the F35. PM LSJwannabe, he's had his apart a few times.

if you gotta ask, take it into a shop. unless you have experiance with fwd standard transmissions its real easy to mess stuff up.

as for special tools, sometimes you need them sometimes you dont. i work at a transmission shop, if we had every special tool that was called for to do a job that goes through the shop there would be a warehouse will at least half a million bucks in tools in it. most of the time you can make stuff work just fine. the biggest thing is knowing what and how to make something work without causing damage.

Most shops won't even touch these. That's your first hurdle. Second hurdle is you're probably looking at $800-1500 just in labor to do it.

I dunno, I heard of two people around here that had it done, and from what I heard it wasnt rocket science. When I had my SC I didnt have the LSD so I was closely watching how these swaps went. The first transmission shop my buddy called said "no problem", but warned that its a tedious (not hard) job to do right. I think he paid 400 in labor. The other did it himself with an uncle. There's lots of hope here apparently it wasnt that tough, just time consuming. That limited slip is designed to go on our car, thats half the battle, fitment.

**** it man, get that 6 speed conversion already swapped into an LSD case and have it cryoed. Gonna do it, and do it big, then do it right the first time. Has anyone done that 6 speed swap yet?? My mouth waters just thinking about cruising at 80mph in 6th saving mucho gas...

actualy, the 6th gear on the 6 speed isnt much different from 5th on an ss/sc. the benifit is that it makes the tranny a close ratio wich is better for road racing.

You live near me, come on in 600 cdn plus parts

To do this you need to buy, to do a differential exchange or synchro replacement:
spacer kit this is a collapsible spacer: 55352125 for the main shaft, and two differential case bearings: 12788353, and 5th gear nut 12755195 The reason you need the collapsible spacer is that is a torque to yield spacer that determines main shaft end float and if you reuse the old one the end float will be too much and the synchro's will clash etc. The reason you need differential bearings is that you cannot easily remove the old ones from the old diff without damage, to reinstall in the new differential. The nut should be changed as it is peened to prevent getting loose, and the gasket 90486235 generally gets damaged when you remove the end case

The spacer kit, the main shaft nut and gasket for the end case along with a tube of special anaerobic sealer is needed; The sealer you need to assemble the case back together and the parts run well over $125.00 ( the bearings alone are 60 bucks each)

Research it more. The final drive is almost exactly the same, it only makes the first few gears shorter.
