fell of the shifter

Other than adding a aftermarket shifter is there anyway to make our style shifter be more and feel more precise . I have a B&M in mine and still HATE it . The stick is still very imprecise and still has slop when its in any gear . Is it possible to get better feel if a aftermarket company made a new shifter retainer ( that plastic nest the shifter sits in ) or are we screwed just by nature of the factory design . In contrast a shifter in a new Civic SI or RSX feel much more like the shifters Im used too in my Camaro's that have the shifter mounted directly on the trans . Very precise , it feel connected .

It's mostly a product of the design. An aftermarket shifter is not going to give you a much different feel since the linkage and everything else up to the trans is staying the same, you're only replacing the shifter arm and knob.

An aftermarket short shifter I find isnt really for the feel, ive been told a short shifter closes in the gates some but as for the "slop" while in gear I notice it too, but not enough to bother me. Comparing to and RSX-S tranny is tought thats a sweet feel.
