Gearbox??

Hi everyone... Yesterday I just recieved my Cobalt CS SS. When I tried to put in in reverse it didn't go, I tried everything I could think of just wouldn't go. Don't know what in the world is wrong with it!!! I'd like 2 know what you guys think.

Yes Sharkey I did and it just would do into the Reverse...
Hopefully it's not a mechanical problem.

Try shifting into other gears first. Sometimes the gear isn't lined up.

as stupid as it may sound, i had a girl come into my shop just after buying an 04 cavalier (was used) saying she couldnt get it into reverse. she was unaware of the lockout. this is one of those things that goes along with peoples floor mats getting pushed under the clutch pedal and then they complain of grinding when they shift.

Ok. But when you pull up the lockout it's suppose to go pretty smooth into reverse right?

haha first time i lent my cousin my car he stayed there for at least 10 mins tryin to get it into reverse. haha he kept stalling i guess he was putting it in 4th, anyways after watching for a while i finally showed him the lockout haha

lockout is so stupid...I dont see how you can accidently go in reverse..you know you dont have a 6th gear!

5th to 4th, in a highway race situation could go accidently 5th to reverse, not that it'd go in.
