CobaltVenomSS 04-04-2011 04:15 PM

no need for flywheel... i have the upgraded clutch on my car and i have a TVS and its holding great!!

starkiee06ss/sc 04-04-2011 04:16 PM

i mean the flywheel bolt and clutch pipe. i think the tob comes with the kit.

T CUPP 04-04-2011 04:19 PM

so the flywheel wouldnt help nor hurt my car?

does it have the stock feel?

CobaltVenomSS 04-04-2011 04:20 PM

yea mine feels stock and real easy to drive

AngelTiger82 04-04-2011 04:33 PM

Would an aftermarket flywheel such as ACT work fine with the gmpp clutch kit?

N1ckateen 04-04-2011 04:36 PM

my friend has this clutch, he's fully bolted with stage 2 and loves this clutch. this is what i'll be getting in the future when mine goes. for now stocks still holdin strong!

sternerG85SC 04-04-2011 06:08 PM

what TOB comes with that kit? is it a LSJ TOB or LNF TOB, always heard the LNF was an upgraded TOB for the lsj's

05Slowline 04-04-2011 06:11 PM

lnf

Tennpenn83 04-04-2011 07:56 PM

the kit includes LNF throwout bearing. the flywheel that was asked about is a stock replacement, so there will be stock feel. lightweight flywheels are not necessary for daily driven street cars

if you are getting the flywheel, get new flywheel bolts, as they are torque-to-yield, meaning they can only be used once. the clutch pipe is not absolutely necessary, but is not a bad idea

Ok I was just wondering if the act flywheel works with this kit because that is what's on my car I don't have my stock flywheel anymore but I heard that act clutchs only work with act flywheels so I wondered if the act flywheels only work with their own clutchs. I just need to know so if I need to order the lsj flywheel with it.

Tennpenn83 04-14-2011 06:19 PM

this i do not know...

Not sure about the act flywheel either, but I have the gmpp lsj clutch upgrade with a new stock flywheel and it works great. I got some goodies on my car, I last dynoed at 263 whp and it holds no problem. I will be putting my tvs and 80's in next week and we'll see what happens then. It Should be fine tho.

I no this is an old thread but, for those of you who said that a new flywheel is not needed did you resurface yours or just put the new clutch in?

Resurface your old one if you don't plan in buying a new one.

Hoping you might be able to answer something, I had the GM performance clutch installed on my 06 cobalt ss 2.0 and used a fidanza flywheel. When I left the shop, the clutch engages barely 1/4" off the floor and has almost no play. Is this normal with this performance clutch, or did the shop do something wrong? Let me clarify, when I press my foot on the clutch, nothing happens until I am about and inch and a half off of the floor. It used to start about 1/3 of the way down, not all of the way down.

Gmpp doesn't recommend resurfacing if shifting at high rpm

The reduced thickness of the stock flywheel can cause shifting issues at 8k... I have experienced this first hand
