Beat on it.

Also, I hear tears make for good lubrication....

well first off, your car is on jacks, and your by yourself yanking and pulling....

PLEASE be careful...

I would go for the pry method first, that seemed to be more successful than just pulling.

also, when you are pulling on it, try turning it back and forth as you do.

Patience my young padawon(sp?). I know they are a bytch. I fussed and fussed when I had to drop transmissions, replace axles, etc. Dealing with that short axle on the Dodge's I worked on. All 7 PT Cruiser's I had to pull that short axle out were ALL hard. No shortcuts learned except be patient and surprise it.

Then again I did end up buying a 4' pry bar.

maybe you need to it it in to break the seal to beable to pull it out..like when you take the a jar to the edge of the counter to break the seal on the lid before you open it

Try using a large ball joint seperator.....

http://www.autozone.com/in_our_store..._separator.htm

Should be able to get one with a large enough opening in between the axle and tranny

I had to pull mine out of my old eclipse and they did the same thing. I used a long pry bar, stuck the wedge side where the axle and tranny come together, and used a 4 pound hammer and tapped the top of the pry bar knocked them loose. Just be careful doing that.

U talking where it meets the shaft that goes into the tranny?

If so use a pry bar inbetween the axle and the halfshaft...also liberal amounts of pb blaster

But there is nothing there to get leverage on, but yes thats where im talking about

The axle will move back and forth in the shaft but the bitch just wont come out, I have beat it so hard with a hammer that it is flat on one side

good call! Don't rush, take your time (unless you have places to go and people to see, then rush) Bad things happen when you rush, and it makes it even more frustrating.

According to the service manual it should just pull out but naturally gm has a special tool that clamps to the axle shaft and and braces against the block. As you tighten the tools shaft against the block it pulls the axle shaft out of the trans.. Just take your time and work at it without loosing your temper and patience. Good luck.

I looked at their illustration again and it is basically a slide hammer clamped to the axle shaft. Maybe if you put the disc assembly back on you will be able to exhert enough force to un- seat the axle from the trans.
