Help! Stg.2 clutch slipped..

I was runnin a evo and then came to a red light and thats when it happened, my stage 2 clutch was slipping like hell and I have'nt even had it for a month yet. But after a while it stopped slipping. I am really mad. I think the place I got it installed at didnt properly adjust it or something cause it makes this brushing noise if you hold the clutch in all the way and try to put it in gear, you have to let up a little on yhe clutch so it goes in to gear smoothly. The guy at the shop said it was cause I didnt have a pilot bushing. That is BS I got the new release bearing from the dealer and they didnt have a pilot bushing on their computer tranny diagram and I highly doubt the pilot bushing would do that. I need help. What should I do??

lets just say he was damn suprised, but he had me by half a car until he slowed down then I flew past. He gave me some respect, I mean evos are much faster than SS's stock.

hmph, have them tear it apart and re-examine the setup. Have them even drive the car and see the clutch slip first hand.

it could be that the clutch pedal needs to be adjusted! i did a 5sp. swap in my 240sx and the clutch pedal was adjusted too far out and it was like I was ridding on the clutch even though my foot was all the way off and it started slipping when i got on it and it wouldnt go into gear with the pedal down all the way just like yours. just try to back it up some see if that helps?

Maybe so ,but I do think it needs to be re-adjusted. Thanks for the info guys. I've been working on my nitrous set up tonight, we cobalt owners have no room to work with under the hood. I should be done sunday I'll take some pics

You are right got my clutch out and it is not installers fault or mine the clutch is a P.O.S.
It does'nt even fit right. I just sent some pics to spec and once they see them they better give me a refund.

i keep saying its not the clutch thats the problem its one of the pumps that works the pressure plate i believe. one of the dealership around me not the one i bought my car from figured it out. so the cobalts in my area go to that one dealer to get it fixed. im on 20,000 miles had my car since june and the stock clutch is holding stronger than ever. I don't know maybe so one else will look more into what im saying. doesn't affect me though.

oh i totally agree with the pressure plate issue. i'm sure that's what my issue was, why i bought the spec in the first place. when you would try to launch the clutch would just spin off and not engage, if you were just barely rolling and ggave it hell, it would light up the tires like there's no tomorrow. now the clutch engages pretty high on the pedal, and is like a racing clutch that's either in or out.. no in between. the pedal feels spongey too, but when it's engaged it won't slip a bit

I plan on doing a clutch swap this spring. Does the whole cradel have to be dropped? How hard is it to swap out the clutch? Any problems with installation?

ok cool I thought people would try and flame me for what i said but its the truth. Honestly once fixed this stock clutch holds like a damn champ. Its taken so many not rev matched abrupt downshifts from me thats what started it up in he first place. Pluse when i went down to a smaller wheel size it took more strain off the clutch trying to hold the hp and the wheels just spin. some thing has to give guys. wheels->axels->clutch->tranny some thing is gonna take the strain. I rather my wheels just spin

How can you fix the problem with the pressure plate? What exactly is wrong with it?

That kind of failure is usually installer error due to misalignment. We'll see, i'm installing a stage2+ on thursday so time will tell. I'll be putting 300hp to it so it better hold!

Sent my clutch back and they are going to re-adjust the Self Adjuster on the clutch under warrenty, It was too far out or in, something like that. So looks like I'll have a spare clutch and flywheel.

That looks to me like some put it in the wrong way. If you dont mount it with the right side facing the flywheel it will do that.
