Mine rarely does it to, i usually just have to barely let the clutch up and it will slide into 1st without a problem

Synchros are balking. Sometimes they don't want to go into gear if the trans is cold.

just get into the habit of throwing it in 2nd first before you go into 1st and it should go into gear fine. All manual cars that I have driven have done this, so it is not a huge problem.

My LS and SS/TC both have this "feature" I found the rolling the car a little or putting it in 2nd then back in 1st does the trick. And yes it only happens to me when cold.

It even says somewhere in the manual to put it in neutral, let the clutch out, then try again as the recommended way to fix this issue. Basically, nothing to worry about.

hey if your still under warranty or know someone or just search for it on here in the how to section... check your roll pin... is your shifter loose at all. is there play in it when your in gear or is it solid... even if not i would still check the roll pin. do you powershift?

Unfortunately I don't think most people read the manual and chances are a good number cram the ever living **** out of the stick to get it into first gear which WILL eventually cause problems due to the force being applied. My g/f's car (GM) does the same thing and I watched her just beat the **** out of the stick until it went into gear. I reached into the glove box, went through her manual and found the section stating this is completely normal for first and reverse and what to do to address it...she learned a llife esson that day, RTFM .

^x2. This usually works like a charm. Over time it went away for me. It might be the temp now though I suppose.

I was told by the mechanics that 1st/reverse (being the same gear, just connected in two different ways in this transmission) don't have syncros.. the reason you can't get into first gear unless you're under 10-15 or so.
