KY Stage 3 PLUS anyone?
KY Stage 3 PLUS anyone?
I was getting chased this morning by a WRX on the highway, He didnt overtake me. LOL However a few times when i punched it in 5th the clutch slipped so i am assuming its close to time. I really use the car as a DD and was wondering if anyone has any comments on the KY Stage 3 Plus from TTR. I see its a full faced and claims it can hold high TQ. I was also wondering if the engagement is close to stock. I have read numerous times that the Stage 3 has high engagement. That is a big turnoff for me. I plan on a K04R and want to do the clutch once. Any opinions?
Thanks
Thanks
How so? I wasn't at 1500 RPM when I punched it. I was doing over 100MPH at Close to 4K. What was dumb was I hit 135 on the highway which is against my better judgement. My tune is set for the full boost to hit a little later than most. It makes the car a bit more driveable for me in NYC. With that being said, do you have any input that pertains to the OP? Thanks again
Just to state again I was over 100mph on RT 80 In NJ during a morning commute. I was not on the salt flats. Did I look at exactly my RPM and Speed, No. I was more concerned about the traffic in front of me. Case being when I shifted and pushed the gas my clutch slipped. I was on the way UP in RPMS. I was not at a leisure cruise. My clutch has 60K plus on it so that must say something. I understand that 5th gear WOT will stress the clutch if Im coming in full boost a 3k and punching it from 2K. However this is not the case. Did I use all of 4th no. Does it matter in this case No. I will ask again, instead of useless comments do you have anything that pertains to the original question. Thanks again
K.
I've had these KY clutches. They all sucked in their own way. I do not recommend them. See my build thread in my signature to find out why. Buy a Spec, Clutchmasters, or, maybe, a Southbend.

If you don't have much money go gmpp jail clutch. But if you only want to do it once for the long haul then go with what the others have said. I would go full faced if you are daily driving it.
Sorry for the mild rant i went on
and thanks for all the replies. I am really trying to get my ducks in a row, I plan on laying the car up for a few months. Kind of backwards laying it up in the summer but I have no choice. I was thinking GMPP but I am going to turbo swap and dig a bit deeper in the engine and I want to do it all at once. I have heard the southbend stage 4 is a good clutch. Dont think I would put down enough power for the 4+. I started look at KY when I saw they had a full faced (New 3+). TTR has advertised it but I havent seen reviews. I havent checked to much into clutchmasters yet but I will thanks. The car is My DD back and forth 200+ mi a day. Also driving in Midtown Manhattan is murder on a clutch so I want to be in it for the long haul. I was looking at the price of OEM flywheels and almost cried. I dont think an aluminum one would be my best choice given my cars use. Ive seen the LUK one has some decent reviews. Anyone run it?

Leave the car as is and put a gmpp clutch in it, or find a new dd. A heavily modded lnf and a 200 mile round trip are not going to agree with each other.
I'm getting the southbend 4+ and fidanza in mine.

He's planning for a k04r he will be fine to daily that even with 200miles per day, another thing is if he can do the work himself. I think a gmpp will be fine for what your looking for

You guys are great! I dont know where to start. Whatever work I want to do will be done in my garage. I am a pretty decent at mechanics LOL. I fully understand what a build entails. Usually its an over budget deadline blowing project due to unforeseen issues and mind changing games. Been there done that with Musclecars. I travel all highway. For the most part it is 200mi a day. Sometimes I wind up staying in NYC for a night or 2 during the week so it helps. I know that the higher you go with power the lower reliability goes but thats dependent on how you drive. If you are constantly in it ***** going to happen and your dd will be laid up. I have a 25 psi tune that doesnt kick in till late. Most of the time Im driving at 5 or less boost unless I almost floor it. Yes sometimes the occasional WRX or POS Mustang antagonizes me but Im not usually street racing to work. I already have some parts that need to be installed, powell modified strut housings with koni yellows and YYZ V5 springs, NEW Powell control arms with T&L Cabs, Powergrid end links, a new Hardcore bar cause my OTTP is shattered. So the car will be laid up anyway. I also am getting the V3 manifold pcv mod from powell along with the Rear beam Bushings. I plan on keeping the car so whatever I do to it if it surpasses DD status, ill pick up a beater 90's nissan sentra and go from there. My plan is to do it and once. I have a ram 1500 I will be using while its in the garage. Also I know that this has been beaten to death in other posts, But from experience does the GMPP have better holding power than a stock LNF clutch? Oh and By a bit deeper in the engine I didnt mean all MODS. I want to do the Valve cleaning and take care of some 92,000 mi checks. Reasons to lay the car up.
**** yeah. Its cracked in like 10 spots. ill take a picture of it and post it tomorrow. Mostly broken where it bends to go to the other side. I dropped a post about this. I dont know how or why. I noticed it when i was changing a leaky exhaust gasket

It's a nice gain for the the stock but my tune isn't even finished due to kr. I just bought a dd I need to fix some body issues and I'll park the Balt to start taking it apart and see what the problem but I think it's well worth it if you have E85 available
I read you were having some issues with KR and some noises from the turbo. Can I PM you tomorrow. I have a question or 2 I wanted to ask about the R. I just dont want to beat this thread up anymore.
