leaking clutch fluid
leaking clutch fluid
ok so for the past 2 days i have been leaking clutch fluid, i though it was the hydraulic flex line, so i replaced that: cost $70.
turns out thats not the issue, it's the valve where you bleed the clutch from on top of the tranny, improper install
so i need a diagram and the install instructions from a gm tech. i'm trying to get this car leak free so i can ship it to germany asap, i'm allready a week behind schedule.
bump for a gm tech!

The piece your talking about is the clutch slave cylinder(the piece the hose attaches to, correct?)
You need to remove the transmission to service that, there is a pipe that goes from back side of slave cylinder into the actuator("throw-out bearing") and the bearing is around the input shaft.
Let me see if I can find you the numbers for the cylinder and the actuator, and whether or not they are serviceable seperately or you have to buy both pieces.

Did you put the black piece back on top of the trans? The little rubber boot? If not... that's the reason for your leak... not the actual distributor. I HAD an extra one before... I don't know if I still have it.
$20 says you didn't put it on there.

Technically... its Brake Fluid. There really isn't such a thing as "Clutch Fluid".
The black thing... did you put it on? You need a pic to know what I'm talking about?
Your distributor shouldn't go bad.

not the black thing but the metal piece that pops onto the top of it, maybe it is the black thing leaking though, who knows, post a pic if you got one. and yes you are 100% correct it's dot3 brake fluid.

so are u still going sunday jim? i got my civic i tell u what its been awhile since i heard vtec..that **** opens up like a beast..the car isnt the fastest thing out there but it aint slow thats for sure
yes i am, since i can't ship a leaking car, started tuning last night, turns out the car was just dumping fuel in pe mode, 9:1 afr, slowly getting it in order. haven't taken it past 10 psi yet, but it's a beast .
turns out the seal was all squished up in there and not seated correctly................
yah i know the reservoir serves both clutch and brakes, will bleed both systems when i'm done.

And you don't need to bleed both systems. The brake lines will still be full of fluids and will work just fine.
