LNF Bad trans bearing?
Anyone know what it sounds like when a trans bearing is going out? I have a humming/buzzing sound coming front the trans area. The noise gets louder the faster I go. I thought it was a wheel bearing but I replaced that and still have the sound. The noise does not change while turning, it is always speed dependant.
Check your front calipers for a seized piston.
When I first got my SS/TC it had a loud noise coming from the front end, sounded just like a bad wheel bearing should sound, with the exception is it was constant, it didn't come and go when turning left or right as you would expect with a bad wheel bearing. Turned out to be a stuck piston on my left front caliper.

It doesn't pull in any direction or even have any signs of slowing down in neutral any faster than before though...

What tipped me off that it was a piston was when I went to replace the wheel bearing I after I had been out for a drive and noticed when I pulled the wheels off that the drives side front rotor was much hotter than the passenger side, that told me I had a brake problem. So I replaced both calipers and the noise went away, I never did end up changing the wheel bearings.
You can service the pistons before ordering new ones, and you won't always need all new boots. Buy what you need not extra, check the pin condition if they're not covered in corrosion don't replace them. Also get some good synthetic brake parts lube and lube the crap out of it.
Hey man, did you ever get the buzzing fixed? I have sort of the same noise when driving 50+ mph. Goes away when I let off the gas, and picks right back up when I get back on. Pretty faint noise.
