Neutral safety switch/Cavalier

Thought I would ask on here,I know there are some people with Cavaliers. My mom has a 2001 Cavalier with a 2.2 and 4 speed automatic transmission.Intermittently it will not start. It wont do anything, like the starter is disconnected, all the lights light up on the dash.I have replaced her battery and starter and starter relay. My question is I just bought a neutral safety switch and am not sure how to install it.I know where it is located but is there some kind of adjustment when I install the new one? Thanks for the help!

its pretty simple, just remove the shifter linkage from the shaft on the tranny, unbolt the switch and pull it off. put the tranny in neutral and put the new switch on and you will see 2 markes, one on the center peice and one on the body of the switch. line those 2 marks up and bolt it down, and finnish putting it all together.

I guess the G5's and cobalts' don't have this, my car starts in any gear as long as the clutch is in.

I would check the clutch switch if the neutral switch doesn't fix it.

Crap, didnt read the automatic part

Thanks for the help.I replaced it today and 20 minutes later it would not start again.I think the only thing left is the ignition switch.Guess I will look at buying and replacing that. Thanks
