New Brakes/Rotors
New Brakes/Rotors
After doing some research...i found that i want to get OEM pads...it seems like that is the general consensus. As for rotors, right now i have cross drilled and slotted and i found through reading that my next pair should be solid rotors with no cross drilling/slotting. It seems that some people like different types of rotors here on the forum. I was wondering what you think would be the best for the price.

The hawk HPS pads seem to be pretty nice and not too expensive, also the centric power alloy are about $60/each... is that a good price for them / rotors in general?
Thanks for the help guys
Thanks for the help guys
Looks like Hawk HPS ceramic pads and centric premium power alloy blank rotors will be the combo I'm going to go with....anyone have any suggestions on the best/cheapest place to buy?
Just ordered the centric premium high carbon rotors + Hawk HPS pads off auto anything.com for $320 shipped. I got them for all four wheels. My car just hit 80,000+ miles and i have never bled the brake lines or anything like that...do you think i should be doing that when changing all the pads/rotors this time around?
It's a good idea to change the fluid completely out of the brake system every few years, brake fluid is hygroscopic, which is why it has two temperature ratings, one is dry and one is wet (when it absorbs the maximum amount of moisture over time). If you arent familiar with the bleeding procedure however, its a good idea to just leave it alone or to buy a special self bleeding tool. I had alot of issues with the bleed screws in the back calipers leaking past the threads, even on the replacements I ordered, which required a pipe sealant (loctite 567) to prevent it from leaking pressure. Just keep an eye out for any potential leaks around those areas. Another great improvement to the braking system that will have drastic results is stainless steel brake lines, but again if you arent familiar with how those work, dont attempt to do it, or you might wind up breaking a hard line.
hmm, although I'm only somewhat familiar with the procedure, I am pretty good at researching and watching videos and being able to do things, so maybe i will look into the brake lines as well, how much do they normally run for?
I got my goodridge set off ebay for 105 shipped, new in box.
Can anyone help me out a bit. I just recently bought 4 Centric high carbon rotors along with hawk hps pads. I went to install everything yesterday and everything fit except for the two front rotors they were too big to where the caliper wouldnt line up where you bolt it in. When looking at auto anything website, i chose 2007 chevy cobalt 2.0L supercharged, so it was supposed to be for my car. When looking at part number 125.62116 on rock auto...it says its for the brembo brakes with a diameter of 315.5mm (More Information for CENTRIC 12562116). Do they make the centric high carbon rotors to fit my car because i can't even find it non-brembo on rock auto either....if not, what would be a good second choice in a front rotor to order. Thanks guys.
Got this whole mess sorted out.... For anyone ordering Centric Premium High Carbon rotors (especially off auto anything.com) the part number for the two fronts are 120.62078. Auto anything had the wrong part number listed for the 2.0L supercharged engine, but after i spoke with them I'm sure they fixed their website. Just wanted to give future buyers the heads up!
