Stock final drive on the F35 is 4.05:1 The GrandAm/TimeAttack/Koni cars run a 4.45:1 final drive.

On the street I dont know that it would be worth it to swap.

Okay, Last time I checked the Type S wasnt a Cobalt, didnt have an LSJ engine or an F35 trans, so not sure how thats relevant.

Only if youre assuming the vehicle that has it has the same powerband, horsepower and torque, rev limit, and gear ratios as our car.

a honda will benifit from a higher final drive a lot because they have such little torque. the lsj is a fairly torquey 4 cyl and 1st gear is short enough as it is. a 4.45 would only be useful at the track with slicks or r-comps (depending on the racing you do). on the freeway you would be around 2750rpm at 65mph, about a 250rpm increase.

there are a number of different ways to do this. Swapping final drives if you are staying on the exact same wheels/tires will shorten your gears and provide better acceleration. 4.45 is the only final drive available right now to upgrade too.

Another "cheaper" way is to drop down to a 15" or 16" rim and drop your overall tire diameter. For instance, the stock 18's overall tire diameter is 25.7", so dropping to a 16" wheel and say a 24.5" tire diameter will shorten your gears providing the same acceleration as say staying on the 18's and going to a 4.45 final drive.

Just some free info there.

pm qwikredline, he has them at his shop in canada. He'll hook you up with a good price. You'll have to take the ring and pinion to a shop for it to be installed as they will have to pull the trans and take it apart.
