shift linkage?

so i was ready to drive out to the beach for the 4th but my car had other plans

I was driving and all of a sudden my 1st 3rd and 5th gear throws went way farther forward then usual and where second and fourth where was gone it was only neutral so in an attempt to figure out what was going on I pulled into a parking lot and popped the hood for a visual inspection everything was hooked up I could see the counter weight on top of the transmission moving when my brother moved the shifter but it looked....sloppy so when I decided to try to drive it back home after all this and not go to the beach 1st 3ed and 5th where gone also so I took apart the center concle to see if the problem was at the shifter all the linkages where still hooked up and when I moved around the shifter I could visually see all the linkages moving but I could take the shifter and move it around in circles as if the shift linkages where disconnected I have no idea what it could be at this point the car is under the dealer warranty that I bough with the car anyone have any ideas what this could be car is going back to the dealership for repairs today and I already cant wait to have it back

any help is appreciated

If I HAD to GUESS I'd say the shifter shaft was busted just above the cable attachment knobs and below the pivot knob. Initially it just bent causing the 1, 3, 5 problem but then broke completely leaving you with nothing. Good luck.

Pin busted where one of the shift cables hooks to the arm on the trans. Do a search and you will find that this is far too common on these cars.....

Would be my prime suspect.
