shifter??

since I got the car, it's always "locked" me out of 2nd if I try to shift at a high RPM. I thought this was normal so it didn't really bother me unless I was racing. now, the car will go into 2nd SOMETIMES, others it will grind, bad. I took the boot off of the shifter and saw that the linkage was bent. if I slam it into 3rd at a dead stop, it goes into 2nd like butter, but every other time it's a problem. i didn't know if these cars had shift linkage or cables? but if anyone has had or is having this problem and knows how to fix it, any help or advice would be very appreciated!!

Well the linkage connects the cables. If I remember correctly TWM makes an improved shift linkage. I would try getting that, then adjusting the shift cables. Maybe try adjusting the shift cables first. If you remove the cup holder you can get to the adjuster.

If its still under warranty get a new cable first or it will bend again

tip: Take your time shifting: It should be a 3 part motion with the right hand. Out of the gear you are in, pause in neutral. and then shift to the next gear.

trans lasts long this way.
