Short shifters

I am not a fan of short shifters. Rushing the shift leads to trans problems, and some of the short shifters out there eliminate the factory 4th gear position lock to enable easy cable adjustment. And no reverse lock out. Uh oh.

B&M were the first we worked with in 2004 and many folks used their shifters without problem. TWM appear to do well, but I had two bad experiences installing themne on an F23 the how to was inaccurate and after cutting the heck out of the pedestal the shift boot and knob was not able to be aligned and well finished.

I had an f35 TWM would not install and get all gears right no matter what. It took some customer crying but TWM came through with a new one ( the old was made wrong) FOC and all was well.

The other day I had a customer struggling with a Hurst shifter install. No matter what he did he could not get it shifting right/easy.

I suggested he scrap the Hurst idea, and if he had to have a short shifter, try Billet Pro Shop, as the folks around here have been unanimous that its a good piece and very well priced.

Customer purchased one from BPS, fast service, put it in no problem and is over the moon, says its a great piece and he is very happy.

thats my .02c tonight. Looks like Billet Pro Shop do good work.

I like when vendors recommend other vendors. Looks like I've found my shifter.

i have a TWM in my f23 and i have had problems with it. mainly the part where you have to cut the stock plastic base. and it still hits it. There will be times while i am going through gears and it catches and the linkage comes undone and im stuck in second gear.

as for BPS i have there cable clamp in my F35 and it works great so far!

I have a TWM in my F23 and it's not bad but I did have to cut more plastic than they said, which the second time around I used a wood chisel It actually worked very good, at first the shifter would feel fine but if going through the gears fast it would be possible to completely miss all gears in which it would just move freely and you'd have to go into third then back to fourth to get it to work. I adjusted the cables more and after that it hasn't given me an issue.

Had I done it again I think I would have went with BPS but would have had to get a new metal shift knob which it'd still be cheaper than TWM by about $65

Replaced the stock shifter after the leather spun freely on the knob. Ended up with a used B&M, loving it except for the knob spins if you shift quickly and are applying more friction to 1 side.

Had I not picked that up for a steal BPS was my next stop. Nothing but good reports from what I've read.

I love my BPS and would recommend it to anyone that wants a STS for their car.

Grab them now while they are on sale. No other company can touch their current price/quality ratio plus the INCLUDE the base bushings for free!

I got my BPS on their first group buy. Just love the way it feels. Had 0 issues with the shifter. Only 1 but that was my fault. After a simple adjustment. I became a happy camper. Name: IMG_20130828_105849_555_zps77434e4b.jpg

This has become of it. Winter is here so I'll be swapping the blue knob to white.

I waited so long to jump on the STS train, and glad when BPS became a vendor and showed they have the best product with the best price.

Had my B&M for 5-6yrs now, one of the first mods I ever did. Have a Sparco knob on it. Reverse lockout works like stock. It sometimes takes 2 tries to get it into 5th gear, that's the only issue I have.

Would anyone recommend getting the BPS cable clamp with the STS? Is is worth it to replace the plastic stock one?
