Short throw shifter solutions?

I'm sure some of you guys can relate to this... The shifter in our car seriously sucks ***** For anyone who thinks it's good go drive something like an STI and report back. Our shifters just feel incredibly sloppy and not tight. The short throw did help slightly but in my opinion it's still not great. I know other companies create other bushings, specifically on the tranny to help some of this sloppyness. My question is does anyone have any ideas, links, or anything to help with this issue?

I've got both poly engine and tranny mounts. Don't get me wrong the shifts in the car feel smooth and click right into hears but the entire shifter just feels sloppy to me... there's far too much play. I've wondered if it was just my car but i've driven a few other SS's and they are the same or worse... Damn GM

After I drove my ms3 for a while, then drove Rallyracers SS SC balt...i was like WTF your shifter is sloppier than a 80yr old prostitute. I just installed TWM shifter bushings in my ms3 and they made a huge difference. tight shifting, precise and raw shift powa I see twm has cobalt listed...but I searched on here and didnt find much of anything for shifter bushings...If they fit I recommend them!

- Check your roll pins to make sure they are not wearing out.
- Motor (2) and Trans (2) Mounts
- Check your shifter bushings and cables - the bushings are not that great stock and the cables can get a bit sloppy as well.
- Look at your linkage and see if your cable ends are loose or sloppy at all.

Fix / address all this and you will have a very tight shifter.

Another thing you might try is the 08 SS/TC comes with a short throw shifter. They accomplish this with different levers on the top of the transmission. There are differences to the shifter also, but those differences have to do with strengthening up the shifter, not shortening the throws. So, you knock out the two roll pins, replace the levers and report back. Don't know the P/Ns of the new levers, but a chevy dealer can get them for you by looking up for a 2008 SS Turbo. They are just hitting the street, so parts may be in short supply for the next month.
