Smaller pulley?

Currently I'm running GM stage 2 with the normal pulley that came with it.

Am I correct in saying that its a 3" pulley, and will putting like a 2.8" pulley help a lot, and is it safe to do so?

Also, if so, where is the best place to order a smaller pulley?

thanks

I like taking the easy way out and just having people post information on just pulleys in here instead of me searching 10 threads for the info that I want and need.

Ah, I have exhaust CAI and stage 2 right now.

I was looking on pulley boys website, only see a 2.8" on there, so that would not be safe?

Not safe with the 2.8. But alot of people run it no probs. If you want safe, go 2.9. Nathan (nherbst454)(CSS.net username) sells some real nice one at good prices, and they fit perfect on the GMPP S2 hub. ZZP, you will need a new hub for ure pulley

Nice, going from the stage 2 pulley to Nathans 2.9" pulley, will it make a huge difference, or better yet, any difference?

Yes you will notice more midrange power due to an increase in torque

honestly, I didnt find a world of difference for some odd reason, but everyone else does. I forgot to unplugg the battery, dont forget to do that when swapping pulleys* So its deff a recommender. He makes a a very good quality piece. I just got a 2.8 from him asweel, flawless as usual!

Would it be alright to drive daily on 2.9, then swap 2.8 for track, and how easy is it to swap back and forth?

I run a 2.9 and 42's and I see 95% duty cycle at WOT. I would NOT recomend going any smaller.

Hope that helps.

Hey there, Mike. Was thinking of you yesterday. I was taking to KissmySS. Guess your busy saturday cause we are having a big Tag meet and didn"t see you signed up. I"m putting a 2.9 and getting a tune there. I think that would be the safest route for you! And i still recommend a little better tune than the stage 2.................. barry!

60 are about 250 or so, and yes the stage 2 are 42.5 I believe.

Yes it will help performance over factroy tune. Tuning will be done at TAG, they have done a lot of R&D and I know 1 of the tuners. Not sure of the price but they are giving us sweet deals for this event, so I'm sure it won't be a lot. Dyno pull is only $30.

Not sure I wanna spend that much right now, looking at spending maybe another 150 so, the pulley is like 70, I just got HIDs in and my detail job, so not looking to spend another 300$.

I don't think it will be 300 just for a tune. I'll pay for a tune and they can just flash your car with the same one and then fine tune it. But I can't gaurantee any prices I don't run the show. Going to be lots of cars dynoing and you'll see all the numbers with lots of differents mods. I think with 60 and 2.6 they are pulling 274 at the wheels..

So, 2.8", with 60 pound injectors would run on my stage 2 tune..

Looking at around 300 bucks. But for now, I can just do 2.9" on my exact setup and be fine, I might just go that route, sounds good lol.
