SS/TC Front Pads & Rotors

So the time has come to get new rotors and pads on the front of my 09 SS/TC. I can’t find much info on the options available for replacing them W/O looking through a bunch of threads. So I’m asking for advice on what is the best long lasting pads and rotors are that still perform. That way I can have some help consolidating my list. I would like to get into the slotted/ drilled style. Didn’t know if the ceramic pads was an option because the metallic dust gets all over the rims. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Stock and stock. Outperforms the aftermarket stuff. You will find the same consensus in all the other brake threads.

After a little digging these are the two best options I'm looking at.

1)ACDelco 171-1012 GM Original Equipment Front Disc Brake Pad Kit
Robot Check Robot Check

2)ACDelco 17D1379C Professional Durastop Ceramic Front Disc Brake Pad Set
Robot Check Robot Check

So is there really any difference other than the obvious material composition of these two pads? I know the Ceramic Pad will have less dust but is it worth the extra $100 to get the FORODO HP 1000 "Brembo" pads? Thanks for all the help and not trolling me haha

I personally think the stock ones are better. but there are others who say it's not worth it. the only real way to know is to try them yourself. I got a lot of hills and small mountains around and the stock ones definitely handle the heating up from the down grades better than the thermoquiets i have tried.

If you like the drilled or slotted style get R1 Premium slotted. Get Hawk HPS pads unless you track your car, they have a fraction of the brake dust that the stock pads do and you'll never notice a difference driving on the street.

I found out today the inside of 1 front rotor is getting groves at the top
I'm pissed I just swapped them like 15k ago. But I its my fault I bought a used caliper the was serviced and seems like it wasnt done right. Probably gotta get a new rotor and pads for both side dice u can't just by 2 lol. Gonna throw my old caliper back on tho since it was doing fine thought I would just put a fresh 1 on when I was doing the brakes, but that didnt work out

I'm thinking about those too I don't want to spend 140 on pads if mine are jacked up cuz of the groves but for the price I won't really mine testing them out.

It's been said many times before, but genuine OEM rotors and pads are by far the best option. The only performance upgrade is to switch to race pads but those are not suitable for daily driving.
Before you switch to pads that create less dust, remember that they spec'd these Ferrodo pads for a reason. Everyone punches it at least from time to time in an SS/TC. That's why it has the Brembos. So my advice is think twice before downgrading.

I just don't want to spend the money to get 1 side of pads I rather test out another set. No road courses around me anyways so I'll see what the other pads feel like haha oem rotors for sure tho just irratated that the caliper caused groves lol

Stock pads and rotors are the best possible option, check amazon for best pricing.
