Ticking noise (NOT MY ENGINE)

OK, so i can only hear this with the windows down. Roll on the throttle and there is a click, sometimes a few more clicks as torque ramps up, lift throttle clicks again. Im able to hear it drivers side the best. Anyone have experience with this issue?

Im going to have the clutch done in the future so id like to have the issue corrected while its being worked on.

My buddy had a problem with his axles get sloppy from wear and you could hear a clicking noise when you acelerated and left off the throttle. We changed his axles problem went away. You may possibly have some play in your CV joints.

maybe its a wheel bearing? as you said it gets louder as speed increases.

i cant see how an 09 would be having a wheel bearing problem this soon though.

i had a click in mine, at an idle, not moving, in nutral! if this is the case, move the shifter slightly, not in gear, just put some pressure on it, if the click goes away its in your transmission! i should still have a click i just cant hear it anymore because of my loud ass exhaust lol! i wouldn't be too worried about it!

do you have the warranty still intact?

Also, my car makes weird clicking noises due to gearbox chatter. Its perfectly normal though. Try and putting the car in 1st gear with the clutch depressed. If the clicking goes away, your car has a case of the chatters.

you can get a click from having rocks stuck in your tire treads or even worse a nail or a razor blade, check to make sure your tires dont have any of those especially the last two items.

it's axle click and fairly common. I replaced mine with DSS axles and the sound went away.

It's more of an annoyance, not anything serious.

ive probably only been noticiing it lately because the weathers been great, roll the windows up, and you cant hear it at all. Ill still mention it to the trans tech when we do my clutch a few weeks down the road.

If its abnormal Ill try to get them to warranty the part and some of the labor, because im already paying for clutch labor 6-8. But they know that the clutch is coming out so the car can put down more power. All they know is that I WILL be doing some power mods later.... and the clutch is a building block.

cv joints... my 09 2.2 does it as well i took it to the dealership on warranty they told me it was fine and normal. just like the pulling a trailer feel and the clutch slipping... my dealership is stupid... they told me it was from putting different wheels on... sooo im going to upgrade my axles and clutch eventually.

Have them re-torque the axle nuts. I had that problem several times. Replaced the axles twice and the problem kept coming back.

i noticed today that when i was backing into my driving it made on distinct click. So i pulled front and did it again a couple of times and noticed it only really does it in reverse. Is this normal? Sounds like its coming from driver side. It did it like once pulling out in first. And its not immediate its almost when the clutch is fully out

That DEFINITELY sounds like the axle click I have. Go get your axle nuts torqued.

X2 I would like to know this as well. It should be covered under the 5yr 100kmi powertrain but I'd rather do it myself anyway.

Sigh... I have this too. I showed them the sound at the dealer, driving with a mechanic... Of course no one knew what it was... Oh well, if they break I have an extended warranty. I don't feel like taking the car to the dealer every 5 days... Especially because they suck. Wish I still lived at home, my pops is a super mechanic (I don't have any tools down here)

Blaaaahhhh...

I noticed my car doing this last night as well. Driver side noise, sounds exactly like a nail, or rock in your tire rolling over and clicking...Who Knows, I'm gonna look around today and see If I can find anything out of ordinary....

definetly not a rock, as it would make noise whenever rolling, this is only occuring under heavy throttle and lift throttle.

Im looking into stage 2 DSS axles in hopes of a beefy CV joints

make sure your cv boots aren't leaking and check your trans/diff fluid. basically what he said^ lol
could be a weird hub or brake problem too. does the sound change when you steer?
