Twm Short Shifter Indecision.......

thinkin bout the twm short shifter kit for balt ss/tc , but i have been hearing mixed results from people. mostly on errors in installing it. is this a hack and cut kit, i don't want any of that. i looked at their online install manual, didn't show any hacking, but.....

just don't wanna screw anything up with my shifting and gear placement. can any skilled mechanic do this? takes an hour to do?

was it worth it, 4 those that have it for ss/tc?

wanted to get kit and bushings...

It's so easy. The cutting part is literally nothing.

Anyone could do it.

I have it for my tc w/ upgraded bushings and weighted knob. This is NOT a hack kit. It is extremely easy to install and should take you less than an hour. The hardest part was taking the stock knob off. You will keep your gear placement if you adjust the cables correctly and are patient and not in a hurry. TWM is a great company and offers an amazing product!

TWM makes great products! I have had my short shifter on my 2.2 now for over 2.5 years with no issues! The cutting is just for extra clearance. And its all under the consol so its not visible

What are people having to cut on these shifters to make them work? I haven't heard of any of this

I just replaced the hurst shifter in my SS/sc with a TWM weighted knob setup with bushings. Shifter is top notch. There was a noticeable difference between the two shifters. The TWM is shorter, firmer, and the through is shorter. TWM shifter is one of the finest shifters I have seen and diffinetly saticfied with the upgrade. And long as you take your time and pay attention to the shifter linkage retainer adjustments, the install should be problem free, and gradifing.

I have the TWM with my 2.4 F23 trans. I assume the F35 is the same. You have to trim a small 1" x 1" section of webbing from the console interior to clear the linkage. It is a minor issue. Download the installation manual from the TWM website. It will be documented there.

I installed my TWM STS with bushings on my S/C and it was a quick easy install and works great. I didn't have to do any cutting I think you only have to cut for the 2.2

Best STS out there, i bought mine and the aluminum bushing and i think i spent no more than 30mins installing it. It comes with detailed directions. to me it was a waste to read them i just looked at the pictures.

Just for the records, there is no cutting required for the Cobalt SS/TC short shifter. It's a pretty straight forward install.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
