What aftermarket clutches are you all using?

Ok well here's the deal i think my clutch is about to hit the shitter on my 06 ss/sc! i can feel the pedal grabbing higher and higher. i was thinking of ordering a clutch so i would have one on hand when it did finally shit the bed. i was thinking the spec stage 3+ but i was hoping i could get some opinions. so tell me your thoughts. thanks! :cssNET:

I have the final version of the CM FX300. The whole fiasco last year was enough to make me go elsewhere next time. It is however working great though!

I would stay away from Spec as I hear they have been just as bad if not worse than CM.

Correct, my spec was total shit, if you want the best out there, call it a day and get the exedy clutch and flywheel combo.

Boosted_SS 01-26-2007 01:01 AM

is this the one you are talking about?

clicky~~~~> http://www.amazon.com/Exedy-GH02SD-S...8&s=automotive

SPEC's havin problems huh?? Damn...Excedy is damn good and have been around for awhile. What do ya'll know/think about the Bully clutches??

2K5SS/SC? 01-26-2007 01:13 AM

Exedy is where it is at! I would have one if it was released when I needed a clutch. Next time though. I hear that the Bully clutches are supposed to be pretty good as well.

Boosted SS, that is it. Check out TurboTech, UltraRev, Dezod for the Exedy clutch/flywheel combo. PM them because they have better prices on it, and they might even hook you up with a discount too!

Boosted_SS 01-26-2007 01:16 AM

yea i got some gift certificates on amazon.com so i think i'm gonna go with there but i was think that looked like a nice piece before. it also says it needs some sort of an adapter from mazda if you look at the last line

I don't know about over here but in the F-Body land specs are 50-50 loved and hated. Supposedly you can't slip a Spec clutch. I've seen it first hand too on my buddy's Camaro. 5 passes at Atco and the thing was toast.
Check out the Bully line of clutches at TAG. I've heard good things.

Boosted_SS 01-26-2007 08:52 AM

thanks bro!

exedy's site shows a lower stage clutch coming out soon, they designed the racing clutches then came into the market clutches after, it was due to pressure from the cobalt racing division requiring clutches quickly. The stage 2ish clutch with fly should be in the 600$ range, i had one in my car for a month during r&d, it ran well.

Definitely untrue. at first i thought my spec stage 3+ clutch was the best thing in the world, and it was living up alll its hipe. it only takes one little slip and thats it. With out even really driving my car hard a year and im looking for a new clutch. Better yet when you buy the clutch spec insures you that you have a lifetime warranty hence the reason people say you cant slip one. The second you call in for help. the answer you get is "warranty what warranty?!?"
im currently looking for a new clutch

Boosted_SS 01-28-2007 02:07 AM

good info thanks!

8cd03gro 01-28-2007 02:37 AM

i have heard nothing but bad things about spec from everyone that has owned one for a long period of time.

Boosted_SS 01-28-2007 02:47 AM

i think i'm going to go with the exedy one mentioned above. i better be careful though or else the people from the ebay intake thread might tell me they found a guy who duct taped brake pads to a metal disc and it has the holding power of a NASCAR clutch for 1/23954345th of the price. i'm getting flamed over there big time because i said you get what you pay for when it comes to performance parts cause they wanted to buy an ebay intake and cut up their airbox.

Shortbus 01-28-2007 02:52 AM

Get the exedy you wont regret, the spec is total shit, dont waste your time, from my personal expierince it cost me 1600 to fix what that clutch caused me.

Boosted_SS 01-28-2007 02:56 AM

yea it looks like an awesome piece! it said on the one site about an adapter that is needed do you know anything about this?

Shortbus 01-28-2007 02:58 AM

If you check dezod, or one of those site, i think it says something about including that piece.

Boosted_SS 01-28-2007 03:00 AM

do you know what that piece is for? i just can't see what needs and adapter plate unless the flywheel has a different bolt pattern than stock

Shortbus 01-28-2007 03:05 AM

It only says reuse the stock release bearing, so you should be good, i would get it from dezod, its 1,135 there.
