I'm just curious, is this my flywheel or something else? And is it supposed to be showing like that? It don't look like anything is broken off and no tranny fluid is leaking, but it just doesn't seem right? BTW the black bar is the cv axel going to the passenger side wheel.

That's the flywheel. And as far as I know, nothing is missing there.

Thanks I just find it weird how the flywheel is exposed like that. But what do you have done to your Balt to have it at 326 whp?

It is odd, but it won't hurt anything at all. And not a whole lot done to my car, some of this was more for reliability or sound than performance.

K&N sri
ZZP upper charge pipe(reliability)
ZZP small intercooler(reliability)
GMS1 3-bar map sensor
3" catless downpipe
3" MPx exhuast(sound)
dyno tune on 93

Doesn't take much to break 300whp, and if you run e47 you can get to ~350whp on the stock turbo.

Theres a small piece of metal that covers it, attached by 2 10mm bolts.

bet you could if you visit a GM dealer and ask to see the diagrams related to the trans.

However I don't recall ever seeing such a piece of metal on my car. Also does look wierd to have all the threaded holes but think those are there for assembly and such.

Wouldn't it be the metal shield that bolts between the trans and the block

i thought that was some sort of shim that is required to get proper clearances on the clutch/flywheel/crank/etc. i may be wrong though

There is that piece, youre not wrong. Not sure if it covers the flywheel though. Doesnt really matter that the flywheel is exposed honestly though.
