SSBOOST 09-03-2007 11:29 PM

Man I searched for the one with the lowest price and lowest shipping and saved $2 more than what you paid!

Black07LS 09-03-2007 11:44 PM

Yeah the PDF? Got it. This shit better not break on me, I'd hate to waste $50 for no reason, normally I buy only well tested/proven parts but this was a steal and the quality didnt look bad from the pics.

Black07LS 09-04-2007 11:19 AM

I had one in my Cavalier for 2 years with no problems.

Black07LS 09-05-2007 08:05 PM

Any updates REIGN?

REIGN SS 09-05-2007 08:24 PM

Yea got it in the mail today, its got the purple reverse lockout :)

Ill probably put it in friday

Schultzay 09-06-2007 01:18 AM

sweet, can't wait to see pics, maybe you should do a how to

SSBOOST 09-06-2007 09:18 AM

I know but it did help some

REIGN SS 09-06-2007 08:39 PM

did you have to cut anything like the directions say?

Black07LS 09-06-2007 09:05 PM

I'm not sure. I did so I wouldn't have to take it apart again. A hacksaw blade works good for cutting. If it does fit it'll be super close.

elecblue06 09-07-2007 12:26 AM

ummm does anyone know if the ion and balt shifters are the same? because I might know an easier solution for you guys

Schultzay 09-07-2007 01:04 AM

well if they have the same transmission then they have the same shifter

SSBOOST 09-07-2007 01:06 AM

http://www.cosmoracing.com/productin...d=276&pid=1663

that's not set up with reverse lockout... the balt version is though.. even for the 2.2... if they're the same it's 60 after the shift knob... however thehy're on ebay for like 40 bux at times

REIGN SS 09-07-2007 02:32 AM

that is basically the same shifter i got..but i only paid $25, the "reverse lockout consists of a bracket that can be unscrewed... but i like the purple coller that is on my :)

elecblue06 09-07-2007 02:33 AM

haha yea it's worth it if you get it on ebay haha i'm probably gonna go straight thru them cuz i've gotten screwed through egay... so i'd rather be safe then sorry :D

Schultzay 09-07-2007 02:33 AM

darn, i thought you had like secret install instructions that weren't crazy like TWM lol or like a shifter for 15 dollars lol

elecblue06 09-07-2007 02:35 AM

no but those come with detailed instructions so you don't have to look at TWM's hense why it's an easier solution no messing with the reverse lockout or worrying about directions

it's a little more expensive... but some people might want to opt for it if it's easier in the end ya know?

Black07LS 09-08-2007 11:55 AM

Nice avatar Reign. Did you have to cut the base?
Did you got your shifter yet Boost? Purple?

REIGN SS 09-08-2007 12:04 PM

yep, i got it, yeah i cut the base, yep i got the purple collar. i originally ziptied the boot to the top, but decided i liked the purple. Here is a larger version of the avatar:

SSBOOST 09-08-2007 01:29 PM

Yeah I got mine but I didn't cut the base.

Black07LS 09-08-2007 01:41 PM

So it fits without cutting?

REIGN SS 09-08-2007 04:45 PM

i wouldnt risk it, plus its not difficult to cut anyways...

That was my thought, but SSBOOST did it without cutting. You must have missed his post.

Boost, Did you use your new boot? Pic?

SSBOOST 09-17-2007 02:20 AM

Got a pic, didnt use new boot yet. I broke the thing that the boot is stapled to so I got to get a new one of those and ill trim the JDM boot and staple it to that. I DID NOT DO ANY CUTTING TO FIT THE SHORT SHIFTER. And yes it came with the purple RLO but I just took it off. Shorter throw, looks sleek and love the knob, here ya go.

I went for it, ordered the cheap shifter, hopefully I get more than I paid for. My car doesn't like to shift into 1st or reverse probably atleast once a day, I have to be a little agressive to get it in. I might have to look into that before installing the shifter or I'll have to put the stock one back in before taking the car to the dealership.

Black07LS 09-20-2007 05:38 AM

Have the car looked at before installing the shifter and you should be ok.

yes, b/c it takes about 90min to install, and i wouldnt want to take it out, then put it back in...

i dont know why you keep thinking it needs to be modified, it dosnt, no cutting or hacking of anything, the tranny of the 00+ cavaliers, sunfires, alero's and grand ams is also the same tranny us 2.2/2.4 owners use

if your talking about takes out the reverse lockout, i didnt even do that, it holds up the shift boot nicely

SSBOOST 09-20-2007 10:27 AM

No modifying, correct. I also have the same problem a couple times a day with it not going into 1st or reverse. What I do to make it work is shift into 3rd (always works) and then go to 1st or reverse, works everytime.

it won't let you shift into first if you're going over twenty mph and its slower than that to get into reverse. I dunno if thats the problem or not but it could be, i know before i downshifted when coming to a stop i would just put in the clutch but the brake on and try to put it into first so i could get ready to go again and it wouldn't work. but now i'm progressively getting better and better at heel toe :)

SSBOOST 09-20-2007 06:17 PM

I'm talking about from zero mph. It wont move into the 1st gear slot sometimes. or Reverse

07cobaltguy 09-20-2007 08:23 PM

yeah i think everyone has that i think its the way the gear meshes when you shift it..
