B&M for us LS guys

Just to let everyone know the Cavalier/Sunfire 01+ B*m shifter fits our cars perfectly..works good and looks awesome in there i had asked before but never got more then one person to say it would so i went ahead and gave it a try...i thought it was a pita to do...but it fits

the number is 45156 ...this is a short throw shifter for 5 speed cars...

This is VERY interesting, do you have any pictures showing installation of this? This would be an awesome step forward for many Cobalt members.

dang, i seen a wrachet/slap shifter in one of the cobalts in the build guide i have. but they dont give a maker or part number for it

heyyy i found it, for an automatic ratchet shifter, its B&M as well but they didnt give a part number just where they got it from.

Doesnt that shifter have the "no reverse" pull up thing on it? Personally I'd rather have TWM over B&M anyday...

I installed one on mine, it fits but our cars do not have a reverse lock out on them so that part needs to be removed, and some major mods, to use stock boot and knob. But after that it fits great.

why use the stock knob?? is it any shorter than the twm

turbo tech:i dont have pics of the instalation in progress...but i can take the cover off and take pics for proof that its in there if ya want

it did have the reverse thing on it...but that got pulled off

To the twm guys: i woulda used that but i had a hunch the B&M would work and i got it barley used (2 mos.) for $50..cant complain bout that

I wanted my car to still look stock but have a better shift :"feel" Besides the shaft of the shifter goes pretty much to the top of the shift knob, stock or twm. I got mine for 55 bucks off of e-bay. Try it out

A friend of mine had a B&M in his 02 Cav and I thought it felt spongy/sloppy compared to my TWM, which is alot more solid and feels alot better...

not sure about the twm...never felt it....all i know is the b&m feels better then stock for sure..ill put pics up later tonight/very early tomomorow

anyone know if you can switch from a 4 spd auto to a 5 spd w/o too much trouble?

I just got my shifter in at my store, plan on putting it in next week. Can you just take the three screws out that hold the reverse lockout bracket on?
