zzp f40 swap vs fmsr stage 2 f35
So i just blew the 5the gear out of my f35 and i was wondering f40 or stage 2 f35? I like having a posi and iwanna road race but 6 gears is nice to have and zzp says its way stronger. Thoughts?

Stock F40 is rated to only ~300, where the F35 is ~260. I believe the Stage 2 trans is stronger cause I thought they cryo-treated it but don't quote me on that.
If you get the F40 with FMSR's Stage 2 kit I think it's like 550+ ft lbs being cryo treated and having upgraded components. KillaSS on here has the F40 with help from ZZP and he loves it, especially driving it on the expressway. Loves the gearing a lot more than the F35.
Hope that helps.

Thanks steviodaddio one of the selling points i love about the f40 is the extra overdrive because i drive highways a lot. Zzp was testing the f40 to find its limits anyone know how that went other than the broken mounts?

Didn't ZZP stop making their Stage 2 F35 though? I thought Powell bought a shitload of them up cause he was rebuilding them stronger or something and ZZP got out of that game. Recall seeing Exsoccer talking about that and another guy getting the last one from them or something. Or maybe it was their kits or something.. could even be the F40 for all I know.. haha.
** They don't have their F35's on their site anymore from what I can see. Their F40 kits are $2,000 just for internals. Without your own F40 casing and then installation you're looking at a solid $4,200 with an LNF and not the Fadanza Flywheel. lol

Ya you can get a fmsr f35 for half price but can it hold the power? You will lose the 6th gear but gain a limited slip

LEVEL I: (Slightly modified FMSR transmission) Rated up to 400 lbft/TQ
FMSR Stage I preload specs
Upgraded Case bolts
Upgraded Trans Case Dowel pins
Stock Crush Sleeve
Stock Bearings
LEVEL II: (Heavily modified FMSR transmission) Rated 550+ lbft/TQ
Cryo Treated Transmission
FMSR Stage II preload specs
Shot peen Trans case
Shot peen Trans components [selected]
Upgraded Case bolts
Upgraded Trans Case Dowel pins
Upgraded Crush Sleeve
Upgraded Bearings
~$600 & $1,000 for Stage I & II.
If you go the brand new route through them and then have them put their Stage I kit on it, it runs you $4,200 shipped to your door.
Their F40 with the Stage I kit (400 ft/lbs) and a brand new installed Quaife LSD sets you back just over $4,000 shipped. Plus you need the mating kit from ZZP I think.
It's going to be hella pricey either way you go unless you go a bone stock F35 or F40 with no LSD.

Stage 2 at 550ft sounds like a really good solution I'm just worried because everyone is going away from the f35

Fmsr is the stage 2 f35 rated the same for every ring set?

Both Stage II look like they're rated for +550 ft/lbs but I've never heard anyone having one so I honestly can't give you any info as far as their reliability. I know guys with the ZZP 4.45 F35's liked them. I think the 4.45 F35's were rated decently high and guys are putting plenty of power over their rating reliably from the sounds of it.
I don't think you'd be unsatisfied with a F35 but the 4.45 gearing would kill you if you drive x-way. 4.45 doing 70 is like 3,100 rpm I think if not higher? lol Looks like FMSR can get you a F35 with the 3.82 LNF gearing but with higher rated internals for the +400 or +550 if you go that route.
Just throwing ideas your way.

I have a 4.45 trans and I dive it everyday. Perfectly fine driving the highway, backroads, and through the city. Hell, I drove 3 and a half hours away going 70-75mph the whole way an averaged 37mpgs, used half a tank of gas and got 210 miles. It was a win. Definitely noticed a huge difference going from 3.82s to 4.45s though. You get the power right away. It has a ton more pull. Got my 4.45 F35 w/Lsd from Powell for half the price or more of a F40 with an lsd. A sixth gear would be nice on the 4.45, but you'd be shifting so much more. Meaning if you wanted power, say as in the 1/4mile, you'd be wasting time, by shifting. Just another way to look at it... Regardless you can't go wrong with the 4.45 Just about any gear you can do a pull in and it goes. No downshifting is really needed.
