F40 6 Speed Conversion Kit - Transmission & Drivetrain

 

Yeah seen that the other day. f40's are loke 800 on ebay not bad.

 

That's crazy money for the kit. I know they surely put lots of R&D into it and will probably only sell a few dozen of them but damn!

That said if my 5 speed takes a dump I might just go this route.

 

Question that almost immediately pops into my mind.

Are there any F40's that work with this kit that came with a factory LSD? I don't believe the Regals did.

 

no i dont believe any f40 came factory with an lsd.

 

Could you use your F35 LSD?

 

Can't you just get a f40 transmission and put it in cobalt I seen new1 for 500 bucks then you just get cables and shifter new clutch

 

No, the F35 Quaife does not fit in the F40


No, there is definitely a reason we sell the conversion kit. It doesn't just bolt up.

 

Think about it though- it comes with a shifter, trans cables, and axel, trans mounts, flywheel and clutch. If you had an older cobalt that needed cables, mounts, a shifter, and a clutch with flywheel, how much would all that set you back? I don't think it's a bad price. If I had a big turbo I would totally buy it.

 

If you want LSD for the F40, add $1100 for the quaife diff alone. Need 2 new diff bearings and I would also recommend axle seals. Sooooo if u install diff yourself add 1200$ to total cost.
