Talking D Rob's 1st Dyno Stock. Numbers inside.

Since I will be doing my bolt-ons early next month I figured I'd get a baseline.

I went to Track Masters ( Trackmasters, Inc ) in Huntsville Alabama. I had wanted to take my other cars there and never did, so after a call two weeks ago and finding out they could tune with and had HP Tuners, I knew I had a dyno.

Drove up this morning in the horrid rain and 2 hours later, I was about to find out my numbers. Had him do three pulls with AFRs at the tailpipe. Arthur was an awesome informative guy and I'd recommend them to anyone in TN or AL looking for a great shop.

I am very happy to say that I pulled a best run of 225.37 whp and 195.36wh/tq

STOCK! I am happy to say the least.

Thanks. I was over optimistic in hoping for 212 whp. Never expected that. I need to scan in the graph and post it.

" Available as a coupe only, the SS Supercharged featured the 2.0 L LSJ Ecotec engine with an Eaton M62 Roots type supercharger and air-to-liquid intercooler.[2] The engine makes 205 hp (153 kW) at 5600 rpm and 200 lbˇft (271 Nˇm) at 4400 rpm"

Well, something doesn't *compute* given the 195 WTQ. A stock SS/SC has 200Ft Lbs FLYWHEEL torque and that renders 205 FLYWHEEL HP. As you can see, the HP and Torque are almost the same here. Setting aside that your * TO THE WHEEL* #s are greater (?), your HP # still should have been not much greater than 200-205. Did the dyno take you to higher revs than stock..if so where did you peak? (5600RPM is peak on stock). Even then, 225 would be a stretch, given the 195 torque.

I didn't peak. It pulled upwards all the way to 6500 rpm. Have you watched the video? Have you seen any of the graph for SC Cobalts? Granted I have the highest stock numbers I have found, but the hp and tq nubers don't seem questionable based on the distance between them.

That's what I thought...you couldn't have peaked at NORMAL stock RPM, but must have gained HP all the way to redline!???

Here is a stock dyno comparing SS to NA cars. It's FLYWHEEL referenced, but still gives you idea of what I'm talking about here:

So that begs the question>>>>How did ya do that STOCK??

OK..I found a stock SC..215 HP and it pulled all the way...
still, your 225 is really surprising:

I agree. It is odd. I'm the 2nd owner and it has only 56k on it. I don't know though honestly. I appreciate the way you approached it by the way, not bashing and making accusations.

I should know more soon, I will be ordering my bolt-ons and going back within a month. I'm curious to see the numbers.

No way for it to be stage 2. Stock fuel cut, stock boost, stock pulley. And I don't see the additional harness they give you to run the injectors with a stage 1 kit but I haven't had out the injectors to try to reference a part number.

It was obviously quick as when I pummeled a 04ish STI with a Apexi N1, but even I just figured maybe it would be at 212 whp or so.

But even with a stage 1, 225 whp is high. Haven't ruled out it having the GMPP manifold but buying it from the local Acura dealer with Car Fax, window stickers, all original books and pamphlets with even the glove box Warning label still attached, and nothing more than window tint changed on it made me think it was definitely stock.

i'm planning on getting with Trackmasters this week and getting dynoed...

i'm running a 23psi Trifecta tune, Injen IC piping, Hahn Intake, ZZP downpipe... hoping for 315whp or so... a guy on here with a HHR SS put down 311 with just a downpipe and tune up there...

Is he the guy that was trying to do a dyno day? Arthur told me some one with a HHR was trying to set one up. Lol, apparently I need to check in on the Bama forums lol.

I honestly don't know much about how the TC's respond to mods, but I hope it goes as planned for you. Any feed back on how well Arthur tunes? I know a fair amount about tuning and his level of knowledge was humbling. I assume he's good.

yeah that would be Paul... and you need to check out the Bama topic, we have a pretty cool group of owners that post on there... most of us just got through meeting up at the Spec Meet March 20th and we're planning on another meet in April... hopefully the dyno day will work out in May, our topic:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/sout.../index130.html

i'm Adam btw

BamaBoy22 is Josh
HHRSouth is Paul
JBthrasher is Jonathan
SeizeThyGod is Scottie
LaserBlue is Tyler
and I think 05Sedan is Neal, don't hold me to that

and we have a few people that aren't from Bama who post in it, so its not like you wouldn't be welcome, lol...

We don't have many people(about 7-8) but we are pretty active with meets, etc. for the number of people we have and of course are always looking to add more people... a lot of the guys who show up for meets don't post on the forums either but obviously is the way we communicate the most

What a lot of people dont realize is GM UNDER RATED the ecotec sc. This has been standard practice for GM and other american car companies for many years. On a stock ecotec sc, I have never personally seen one dyno under 207 whp. Most I've seen are around 213 - 217 whp. I been at the dyno and seen 2 stock 2.0 S/C IRL's dyno 230 whp +.

Thanks man. I'm looking forward to going back in April. I figure either I'll be amazed at what I put down, or gain like 2 hp from a i/h/e lol. On a side note what headlight are those or did you black out your stock headlight.

honestly i say its all on the tune man, no matter what mods u do on the car if the tune isnt good ull be heartbroken and slow lol. but thats my opinion so i say before u do any mods maake sure u have a good tuner dude. My headlights arent oem, there the eagle eyes black housing headlights u find on ebay for 145 bucks which is what i paid like 3 years ago lol. not sure if there still the same price...could be lower. i really like em never had issues with them just the normal wear n tare over time...i want black housing retros tho

and afr shows 10(lowest the sniffer reads)

but broad tq doenst hardly drop off at redline and hp still on the climb

well I have an appointment for 2:00 at Trackmasters tomorrow

but i'm going to be RUSHED to make it, and might not

I was supposed to be off, but now I got to go for safety orientation and some other bull **** at a Power Plant i'm taking a call at... supposed to only be half a day, but the dyno is 1.5 hours away, so it'll be close and that is if we got out on time, I'm hoping we get out early so I will make it without being rushed
