08 cobalt ls speaker trouble

a couple of weeks ago i noticed that my front passenger speaker wasn't working. then a couple days later the rear passenger speaker stopped. now the driver side front speaker isn't working. but yesterday i had to take a long trip and after about a hour of driving all the speakers came on one at a time. after that they were on all day, but today they don't work. i had a system put in a couple years ago don't know if that has anything to do with it. anyone have any ideas? thanks a lot.

was it only the speakers or was it all accessories that went on/off?

only the three speakers the only speaker that works is the driver side rear. the three speakers weren't working then about a hour after driving the pass rear came on then about 5 mins later the pass front came on then another 5 mins the driver side front. the chimes or turn signal noises also dont work but they came on wen the front driver side speaker came on its really weird i dont even know where to begin.

could be the factory amp that runs your door and rear deck speakers. mine when out so i just got another amp to run them.

he it sounds to me like its taking a while for some charge to build up or something, id say check amp and if not maybe wires behind the radio. funky problem

if everything is stock id say your best bet is blown speakers first then broken amp second. if you have an aftermarket hu or speakers then check the connections (stock this could be a prob too but much less likely)

Everything is stock. I checked the speakers that are not working and there is no power in the wires. If the amp was the problem wouldn't all four speakers not work? How would I be able to tell if the amp is the problem? Thanks a lot for the help.

if you know how to test for power im assuming you can also test the speakers and they passed?

it will be hard to see on a multi meter but you can check for power before the amp that will tell u if its deck or amp

i unplugged the driver side rear (only working speaker) and hooked its wires up to the pass rear and hooked the pass side wires to driver side and turned on the radio and the pass side worked and driver side didnt. so then i took the wires from the pass side and touched them together and there was no spark. so im assuming that if theres no power to that speaker theres no power to the front speakers.

well the first part sounds liek a good idea. i thought maybe u checked them with a multimeter. good news is since you touched the wires together if the amp wasn't broken before it probably is now

theres still a very slim chance that its the speakers but idk how if at all "advanced" the stock amp is.

oh and idk why im even talking about the factory amp like u even said u had one. If you have the base setup then you dont have a factory amp. if u have the pioneer setup then you have the factory amp.

Yea I just have the base setup. Since you don't think its the speakers can it be the head unit? I noticed that the guy who put my system in hooked the remote to a brown wire and didn't put a fuse on it someone told that could be part of the problem? Thanks for the help

On the drivers side down on the right side where there's that vent he took the plastic cover off and hooked it to a brown wire he said that it was the acc wire.

ok first off y did you touch the leads together???? you could have blown that amp all together. never EVER touch 2 leads together on an amp. to find out if your amp is bad is to buy a multimete. this will be your friend. first take you radio out of the dash. leave all connections on the radio. turn your radio and multimeter on. take the leads from the multimeter and touch the metal prongs on the back of the wire harness to the radio were the speakers wire are come out. test all pins. if u read a voltage ur amp is good. with that many speakers having the same issue. i believe its it the wire harness off the radio. or loose solder points in the radio. if that is the case. best solution a new radio.

also make sure the volume is up loud and test only the speaker outs for ac voltage. if i remember correctly they are all on the same plug opposite power (could be wrong thou so). also buying a 10-20 dollar craftsman will give you much better results over a 2-5 dollar harbor freight but the HF *should* work

u need to make sure they are the speeker wires though. if u get the accessory or 12v constant u can also get an AC voltage because of the alternator.

ok so i checked all the speaker wires coming out of the headunit and they all have power. so i go to the rear speaker thats not working and no power at the speaker. so i unplug the speaker and test the wires again and now they have power. does that mean the speakers are bad?

Can this have anything to do with my blinkers going fast? All this happened about a month after installing led tail lights. They make my blinkers go fast and since the blinkers are hooked into the speakers can that have caused this or do you think its just the speakers?
