you will need a switch for that pioneer to bypass the video

oh and when you get the harness you will need to connect the remote wire from the D3 to the stock pink wire (stock amp) and the red to the sunroof or wiper fuse

I'm not to sure which harness to get if you don't want to spend alot of money.

It sounds like the Guru knows what the model # of the harness he needs is but maybe forgot to post it
What do say EmperorJJ1, can ya help us out?

Added- I'm 90% sure that if you don't have a 2007, that the $10.00 Walmart harness should work with a little tweakin

By 10$ harness is that the one for a cobalt without the pioneer sound? Or just any random GM wiring harness for an 06 chevy?

I got the unit for 512$ from al and eds out in southern california. I found their site on google. That was the cheepest one i found and it took about an hour of searching.

Yeah if anybody knows, that would be great. I have only put 2 radios in a car in my life. If anybody knows of an easy way that i could do this job even with a general wiring harness i would love the info.

Metra 70-2103 for the wire harness. You'll lose onstar if you have it though.

I am installing my Avic-D3 tonight.

Metra 70-2103 is this harness a direct fir or do i have to mod it in some way? The only thing i have ever installed was a rockfordfosgate in a probe and a kenwood in a honda. All i had to do was wire it up and plug it in. Will i be doin the same with this harness when my stuff gets here on monday? Thanks Forced SS. Do you have the part number on the one for the malibu? Is it justa n 06 malibu?

AI only make one 06 malibu harness. But I will check tomarrow when I go back to the shop. The AI web site is saying gm-22 witch is about $100.00.So not worth it.The harness should come with a fuse tap and jumper wire. And check out avic 411.com good info.

find my posts i explain everything in them, you only need the cheap harness. there is no way to retain onstar on the 05-06 years unless you wire in the stock radio and your aftermarket. if you have the pioneer sound you still only need the cheap harness, i have that set up and it works flawlessly.

they also all pertain to the D3. I found the best speed sensor wire too its like 2 feet from the head unit. Ive had mine in my car for 5 months and it is perfection with bluetooth and sirius also.

cheap harness and the mounting kit and your done

You probably connected the wrong remote turn on lead for the factory amp.

On the wire harness you bought, what wire did you connect to the amp turn-on wire?

If you have AIM, get on and add me "MikeUW Huskies"...a lot easier than talking on here.

yep... the amp turn on was wrong. Now where is that vss wire and what wire do i hook up to it. I did the bypass and it is fricken sweet. the navi is good but with the vss wire i guess it can be better. I just need to no the wire to use off of the wiring harness and what the vss wire is.

How do i hook up an XBOX to this unit? i have an idea of where i would put it but i dont really know what i need to do it.

On the 2nd harness on the D3 there are a bunch of RCA inputs. Just connect the xbox to that and you will need a power inverter to power the xbox.

yeah its great. I only spent 30$ on the harness and the mounting kit. So the radio, ipod hookup, and install only cost 585$!

i am getting a sub for the trunk. i have a alpine amp its 400 watts rms. i got it at best buy for 150$ as an open box item. I was thinking about runniing 1 alpine type R. What do you guys think about that sub? Or should i go with a different one?
