After market headunit doesnt work

I bought a Pioneer 7700mp headunit and i got the wiring harness for a 04 malibu, when i hooked everything up, the headunit turns on but no sound comes through and my car's DIC displays dashes. Any help would be appreciated. The Car has a stock radio with MP3 capability.

It's a possibility. If the Pioneer premium sound system works like the Bose system, you'll need the RDS/Bose harness as the radio outputs a low level signal opposed to the normal high level for the speakers. Just did an 06 Trailblazer at work today with bose in fact. The RDS harness has male RCA ends so you just hook those to your RCA outs on the radio. It'll also get your DIC to work or should anyway because that too is probably tied to the radio. The Trailblazer's DIC worked fine with that harness earlier also.

The DEH-p7700MP is a nice radio. Got one in my Camaro and love it.

Yeah, it is the wiring harness, the one that was sold to me was a metra 70-2003, where as the one that fits our cars is the metra 70-2103. So yeah its the wiring harness and I'm gonna stop going to best buy for my car needs. Crutchfield here i come!!!!
