Aftermarket Amp for Speakers

i need some help with what to look for in terms of an aftermarket amp for some speakers i just picked up. to start off, i picked up a pair of TS-A1674R speakers for the front doors and TS-A6975 speakers for the rear deck. both are 4 ohm 3 way speakers so i need to run them off of an aftermarket amp because the stock amp only runs the 2 ohm speakers. i also have a Pioneer AVH-8400BH DVD headunit and a Bassworx sub box with (2) 12" Hertz Subs, a dedicated Alpine amp for the subs, and a 1 farad stinger cap. i read the thread about how to bypass the stock amp and whatnot, i mostly just need to know what to look for with this amp for these new speakers. pretty sure i need a 4 channel amp but not sure about some of the other specs. any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

What type of Alpine amp do you have for the subs? To make everything look the same and nice, I'd look for a matching style of amp for the factory speakers. You are most likely going to need to run that amp through the high input over trying to convert them to RCA for the input.

Forget the amp bypass, just run everything RCA's to amps and you dont have to worry about the stock amp. Just dont hook up the power wire for it.

hmm not sure on the model of the alpine amp, but its dedicated to the subs only though.
so just about any 4 channel amp would do? what about wattage of the amp and whatnot?

yea that ones nice.. if there was someone selling a 4 channel amp locally would it be bad or no difference if it was say 500w or higher? i know it wouldnt be good to go lower than 300 with those speakers. the extra wattage would just be a little overkill?

You can always adjust the settings. Having more power is not bad. Having less and getting a clipped signal is. Underpowered speakers fail easily.

Your front speakers are 35 Watt RMS, rears are 40 Watt RMS. (Got this from the Pioneer web site)
Don't look at the maximum wattage.
So an amp that can handle 2*35 + 2*40 = 150Watt RMS would be plenty.

The linked Alpine MRV-F300 amp is 200 Watt RMS (4x50)
THD is 0.08% which is pretty good for the money.

That should work just fine.

600 Watt is definitely overkill and will blow your speakers...

i was just checking out my DVD headunit, and the specs note that it has a MOSFET 50w x 4 built in amplifier. could i just wire the speakers directly to my headunit and use this instead of an amp? or is getting an external amp better?

Your head unit's amp is only 4x14W RMS (the 50W is max again - link here Pioneer AVH-P8400BH DVD receiver at Crutchfield.com ).
Generally an external amp is always better than one built into a head unit. The fact that an amp is usually larger than the head unit says a lot ;-)

checking out this amp for my setup. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-GM-A4604.html
seems like it would work well. a quick question, would i just run two sets of RCAs from the inputs of this amp to the outputs on the back of my pioneer aftermarket headunit?
