aftermarket deck and steering wheel controlls
my factory deck (pioneer) started eating cd's, so im looking to put my pioneer deh-p940mp in. yes its an older deck (2003) but for the time it was amazing (can you say 6 volt pre-outs). i have never owned a better deck.
anyways i picked up a dashkit, antena adapter, pac module (id rather spend the extra to retain the RAP feature) and a steering wheel control adapter. turns out the pac module they sold me is wrong (sold me a c2r-gm11 instead of the c2r-gm11b) so i need to get the correct one. also turns out that the steering wheel control adapter (pac swi-ps) wont work as my deck has no input for it. talked to the guy at the stereo shop today, told me they could get an infered wireless steering wheel controll adapter, however i have to drill a hole and mount the transmitter somewere that my deck will pick up, such as in the armrest. anyone ever try one of these??? from past experiance my deck had a horrible time picking up a signal from the remote if it was anything but straight on and more than a foot away. im kinda doubtfull on how well it would work, and retaining my steering wheel controlls is a must for me (i hate having things in the car that dont function).
if it comes down to it functioning correctly, i guess ill have to buy a new deck. what would you guys recomend??? im kind of a pioneer premier guy, ive never had one of them let me down.
