well im getting my Two 12' subs with my 1600 watt amp installed saturday. Was wondering if its just best to buy a aftermarket head unit For better performce rather then my stock Pinoeer one for a 07 SS.

My brother has a Planet Audio...5V preamp Output 50wx4ch Hu..and im completely lost on the whole "if this is better or not"

It will definitely sound better with an aftermarket one. Even without aftermarket speakers it makes a world of difference, but with speakers it will be even better.

What all would i even need for the HU anyways. Like a connector? spliter or w/e

 

you need a harness dash kit and gm antenna adapter. model numbers are in the stereo FAQ sticky

 

Ummm if your rocking 2 12's and a 1600 watt amp, i advise a capacitator or your lights will dim alot and you will drain your battery down really quick....Also get an aftermartk HU, it is like night and day with tuning for the sound of your system.

 

That is true an is why i do have one but didnt mention it. I do have a Aftermark HU but The people who are install my stuff Doesnt even have the hardness/din for my 07. Say its to new and no mass produce. An this is best buy btw. Kinda really dont Want to buy it off the enternet either.

 

If you want the chimes, then BB and CC don't have it. (Bastards) There are other harnesses you can get, but I don't them

 

ya unfor i dont have the cheap harness # for the 07 balts but it is being mass produced and BB and CC can order all the metra or scousch stuff (not saying they will thou)

 

Yah ima just wait till its mass Produced and Can just get it at Best buy or w/e. I can install the HU myself so its no big deal. I can wait lol

 

It is being mass produced... when i company comes out with an item they dont make just one they make all kinds but that doesnt mean everyone will stock it. Most shops even best buy and circut city will only stock what they really only use often. They will get 3 cars a day that use the standard chevy harness but only one cobalt a month. So they may stock one but usually they will just order it and make the customer wait.... I dont walk into my chevy dealership expecting them to always have a bottle of laser blue metallic touch up paint but they should keep the GM "clips" in stock since they are on almost all gm vehicles somewhere
