iv'e done it on mine but not really "properly"... how you did it is how it should be done but that wasn't possible in my case(how i did it is pretty close thou so not too ghetto). the reason i don't recommend it is because lets assume this guy is the **** and did it like you did everything turns out good no problems, then its all good but there's a much bigger chance of it being ghetto rigged. now here's the thing unless this is a crazy ass sq build and there's awesome equipment being used he will never hear the difference. So the question is this. is the 75% chance of the installer incorrectly running wires in the doors worth the .1% chance it will sound better??? my vote is no

Yeah I know its not their fault - I buy everything off the web. I just thought he prolly has huge bulk spools of speaker wire etc which would help him get it cheaper - but still I know the web is insane. (He was legit taken aback by what I paid for my amps) I need to call him tomorrow, got busy.

I know what you mean about the doors. Though Ive already had door speakers put in which was ghetto on a non-pioneer system as it is - Id rather the rest be done right if its tough as you say it is, especially over a little bit of stock speaker wire. Thats my priority. Its decent equipment but nothing to go crazy over.

Might go Tsunami instead of RF btw. I researched and they seem good

Godddddd what a garbage market. Ok, I thought I was getting better wire. The RF kit is cheaper anyway haha.

I still have to ask what HE would use, he didnt pick up the phone when I called and then he called back while I was working. Phone tag sucks. Tomorrow morning Ill call

WOW. He said he wouldn't refuse service, but he wouldnt be happy if I brought my own. He went on about how people bring shitty wires and he cant guarantee it, but he can stand behind his stuff.
He told me about thin gauges, CCA, blah blah for TWENTY minutes but then when I asked him about what brand he uses he said

i think "DAX" for rca? and SCOSCHE for power! So he was preaching all the right words but charging me 150 for scosche? He was really really intent on me using his and made good points - but it sounds like he was preaching to make some extra cash. Now it might be scosche's EFK good line, but I would rather stick to me to choose my wires, because Im the only person who cares about my system.

So I just bought this
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ate+RFK4D.html
plus another RF rca, 50 ft of stinger 16 gauge and 8 feet of 12 gauge monster.

sub wire is no biggie though because I have a shitload of 10 gauge in my house that are hooked up to speakers haha

one of the toss ups to not doing your own system, the Guy I worked for out here would give you a lifetime warrentee on install if they were his parts, but wouldn't cover anything if it was stuff you brought in to have installed. And after seeing what people bring in, I can see why.

have you decided to do the install yourself now?

Yeah I considered that and you're right. But everything thats being put in - is also mine - so that point is kind of null in this situation. And yeah I can see why, my friends bring installers pieces of trash and then ask why it breaks in 2 weeks.

Hmm.. If there was a detailed pictured description on "how to install an amp in a cobalt," I would do it. I'd really need to do it without ANY guesswork at all. Get me? Or I wouldn't feel comfortable playing ignorant doctor with an extremely expensive under-warranty thing... such as a car.

It would be niiiiiiiiiice to save 200 bucks man.... I think Im stickin with the pro-install but... I will keep searching for instructions in desperate hope

Sorry to double post but some quick info for topic closure - that I bought nice rf wiring and had the guy do the work. I have to say, he did a damn DAMN neat job.
I thought he was legit, but I thought the last guy was decent too and he was a con-artist.

Thanks, I was nagging - but you all helped create an (inexpensive) loud-ass monster. (this is a serious sub) Now my only problem is my rearview mirror DROPPING every bass note haha

i took two quick night snaps and stuck it in the gallery btw.

There should be a little screw on the back of your mirror near the ball joint.
Tighten that with a hex key and no more rear view mirror dropping

Mm just uploaded 5 more. The 2 trunk pics are little blurry - Ill fix them one day. A nice clean install, did exactly what I asked for (amp placement). Ignore the wire in the right bottom corner, thats random personal cargo.

Yeah I actually have 30-40 feet left over (from the original 80) but no worries, I got SUCH a good deal on it and I need some wire for my house.
